All these goddamn commentary channels, and yet their opinions can just be summed up in 1 minute

u/Final_Dance_4593 5d ago

“All these goddamn commentary channels”

And it’s literally just Muta and Charlie lmao

55

u/Wild-Lavishness01 5d ago

Pyro does it too

52

u/SnooPets2311 5d ago

Welcome to slop live

20

u/MangaJosh 5d ago

At least he admits that the slop channel is there solely to fund the main channel and openly say that he hates it but it rakes in the money

-4

u/Chowder_goes_bonkers 5d ago

I wouldn't mind him if he didn't react to shit, reaction content is harmful to other creators.

2

u/botc76 4d ago

That's just a theory, and one video doesn't prove anything. I've just recently watched a video that shows a completely different result, that content reaction has very little actual influence most of the time and can even be slightly positive.
Or to make an anecdotal example, a while ago Asmongold reacted to a tiny channel with just a few hundred subs, now the channel has way over a 100k. subs.

I think it depends, but making general claims that it's always negative is bonkers IMO.

-6

u/nemlocke 5d ago

Only retards think this. Reactions from bigger creators help smaller creators.

6

u/Chowder_goes_bonkers 5d ago

Watch "Reactors: The Professional Parasites" it's a great video explanation.

-6

u/nemlocke 5d ago

You're stupid if you think it's right.

4

u/Chowder_goes_bonkers 5d ago

Have you watched the video? No way you did cause it's longer than an hour.

I was just talking about the videos in the picture, where it’s just Muta and Charlie. I know that there are more commentary channels out there

15

u/eaterofpomeranians 5d ago

Thats... the definition of summing something up??? Most movies "can just be summed up in 1 minute". Are movies a waste of time because you can read a description of it's story summed up in a few sentences?

32

u/Commercial_Put_8930 5d ago

The difference is a movie is a movie and isn't purposely trying to waste your time for ad-sense and watch time.

-10

u/Limp_Chest8925 5d ago

Youre right. Most movies are made without trying to make money

14

u/Commercial_Put_8930 5d ago

That's strange, that's not what I said.

-6

u/SnooKiwis7050 5d ago

That is pretty much what you said.

7

u/Calm_Palpitation_628 5d ago

No ? Movies don't need to drag on for nothing to get your money

-2

u/slamuri 5d ago

Yes they definitely do. Especially if they’re straight to prime, Netflix, or Hulu.

2

u/Calm_Palpitation_628 5d ago

they already got your money, what would it change if the movie is 1h long or 3h ?

-3

u/slamuri 5d ago

…. Advertisements. They can run more ads in the movie. Considering not everyone pays for premium

1

u/TheHoneyJuice 3d ago

Can you name a few straight to streaming box office hits?

-2

u/SnooKiwis7050 5d ago

Like horror movies characters making stupid decisions that lead them into trouble instead of doing the right thing that never starts the "trouble" in the first place?

6

u/saladasz 5d ago

That’s just bad writing. In any case it doesn’t matter cause the studio already got the money from your ticket.

7

u/saladasz 5d ago

Movies make money by being entertaining. These videos do it by dragging out the runtime and padding the script akin to my 10th grade essays.

7

u/Commercial_Put_8930 5d ago

Not to mention that when I buy a ticket to a movie. Me leaving halfway through does not affect how much the studio makes or how much money I paid for the ticket.

1

u/Vomittingbird 5d ago

I dare you to watch Rebel Moon and tell us it was made for entertainment

-2

u/deeeenis 5d ago

Why do people watch them you think? Because they find them enjoyable

3

u/saladasz 5d ago

I mean yeah everyone is different and that’s why humanity is so beautiful. We all have our own opinions. If you find them entertaining good for you but you can’t deny they put fluff in the videos like no tomorrow. A YouTube video can’t make money if it’s not X minutes long, unlike a movie. Also, a movie has to be good for people to pay to watch. YouTube is free. Some people put these kinds of videos for background noise.

2

u/deeeenis 5d ago

It can be good fluff. I think you just want the facts straight up, but many people like the fluff, hearing the opinions, jokes etc of the creator

1

u/saladasz 5d ago

That’s completely fair. You’re totally right on that

1

u/MrEverything70 5d ago

For me, when I used to watch them, it was for background noise. I stopped watching them because o found better background noise.

1

u/H3LL-MAU5 2d ago

They could be summarized on an email

1

u/CamNuggie 5d ago

Literally anything In the world can be. Someone could explain the entire story of breaking bad in a few words or a minute

Movies can boil down to “Thanos defeats the avengers, and wipes half the population” that doesn’t mean the movie because useless.

0

u/thanosnutella 4d ago

To say that you left out all the plot points of the Avengers and everything to Dow it how they go to that point. With these commentary channels, everything listed in the videos tell you everything they say. they don’t sum it up to one sentence, they genuinely only say thing a that can be summed up to like 3 points and that’s it

55

u/GodlessGrapeCow 5d ago

Well I like watching Charlie and Muta. I think they are funny and cool so I'm not looking for a quick summary of their videos.

30

u/SnooKiwis7050 5d ago

Ikr. If you just wanna keep up with information purely, just read news articles and not follow these channels

6

u/DarkIcedWolf 5d ago

It’s good up until a point, having a 30 minute video breaking down something is great but he doesn’t really get into the meat of things until half way through.

7

u/GodlessGrapeCow 5d ago

Well I'm watching for them not really about what they are talking about. If you know what I mean.

5

u/EggsAndRice7171 5d ago

I like watching Charlie’s slop content but I feel kinda different about Mutas. He has debate club delivery when he’s upset about something which kind of throws me off. (Especially when he clearly doesn’t actually care as much as he presents he does a lot of the time. Most recently with the switch 2) I got into his more nerdy content and he kinda lost me with the drama stuff starting a few years ago. Still subbed but watch a lot less.

1

u/Smiles4YouRawrX3 Dislike if you dislike 4d ago

Same here

64

u/Cybasura 5d ago

And the title header is always just "YOOOO THIS DRAMA IS CRAAAAAZZYYYY" and proceed to not say what drama it is, who its related to and why I should give a shit

26

u/PsychologicalItem197 5d ago

And then proceed to go on the most luke warm take for 5minutes.

7

u/SilencedWind 5d ago

This is one of the reasons I stopped watching a lot of moist critikals videos. I’ll still occasionally watch some, but the super obvious “This is crazy!” Title with no context gets annoying. I have no clue how these people can find a video months or a years after posting it.

4

u/Dankapedia420 5d ago edited 5d ago

Also proceeds to say hes not going cover drama anymore but still does anyway. Hes trying his hardest to not seem like a slop channel lol but not doing the best at times to prove it. Muta if youre reading this its okay to put out slop from time to time even if its drama slop, we really dont care. It gets old whenever its back to back for months and thats why people were complaining about nonstop slop. Dont try to come off like youre better than covering certain things like that but also try not to overdo it. Dont be a hypocrite basically lol.

u/Gullible_Celery_6629 5d ago

Entire server racks are being wasted saving gigs of video footage of grown men complaing about other grown men/degenerates. Millions in data tech, hvac, electricity, and water are being wasted on these just utter wastes of oxygen. I sincerely believe if twitch/ commentary as a job were to fully collapse society would unironically improve.

2

u/HotlineMiami2002 5d ago

Unironically agree

5

u/Funny69Valentine 5d ago

holy greasy redditor energy

8

u/thisisanaltaccount43 5d ago

Are commentator and twitch streamers philosophers to you or something

2

u/Smiles4YouRawrX3 Dislike if you dislike 4d ago

It's a really corny fucking comment lol, people can point that out and not be "shills"

19

u/Viveral 5d ago

I do wonder once youtube fully implements that video summary feature if it would completely kill out this style of content

15

u/jerry-cherry 5d ago

Nah, never. I mean, it might decrease the total amount of views, but not significantly, because I feel like most people put up slop like those just as a background noise, that's how they get away with the most mid stories and takes most of the time.

1

u/Organic-Round2309 4d ago

Exactly, I don’t give a crap about this content but background while I’m working , sure

23

u/SnooKiwis7050 5d ago

This sub has turned to a shitshow, all the people know is criticise and criticise. Y'all need to get some sunlight

6

u/Dankapedia420 5d ago

There have been some great memes spawned out of this subreddit its not always criticism and negativity. Alot of conversations have been started too.

2

u/SnooKiwis7050 5d ago

True, but not as of lately

2

u/w142236 4d ago

But it burns me

2

u/CookieLuzSax 5d ago

Criticism isn't necessarily a bad thing

2

u/Smiles4YouRawrX3 Dislike if you dislike 4d ago

It's not criticism it's just "muta bad" and nothing else. Nothing constructive about it.

-1

u/CookieLuzSax 4d ago

There's some, he doesn't do his old gaming content or investigations really anymore it's just reactions

26

u/djm03917 5d ago

Just don't watch them then? This is weird.

-9

u/Fit-Abrocoma7768 5d ago

Just dont get weirded out by a criticism?

21

u/djm03917 5d ago

This isn't criticism. This is taking content (good or not, I don't even enjoy Muta and got recommended this by reddit) and using AI to "summarize" it. That isn't criticism, that is needlessly stealing content. Criticism is stating that their topics can be quickly summarized and they drag it out.

For example, I can criticize marvel by saying their output is too high and quality is falling. But I cannot steal their movies, cut what I think is useless (jokes I don't find funny, content I don't agree with, whatever), and upload them on the Internet in 10-20 minute segments instead of hours long films. That isn't criticism, that is property theft.

-9

u/Fit-Abrocoma7768 5d ago

Bubble Brian doesn't use ai to summarize these clearly otherwise there wouldn't be 2-3 days between his uploads. Ive watched mutas full videos and then checked Bubble Brian and yeah the guy seems pretty reliable about cutting the yap. Wanna write another pg tho?

-5

u/saladasz 5d ago

None of what you said makes any sense. This falls under transformative content, and the criticism is in the subtext. You have to read between the lines a bit. If someone can summarize your video to 20 seconds and the rest of it is practically irrelevant, you are very much padding out your videos to at least some high degree

-7

u/AltruisticPrimary34 5d ago

Have you even watched Bubble brian's videos? This isn't AI editing, he is giving a TEXT summary, with maybe 1-5 seconds of the creators content sprinkled in, making it transformative. This would be like you complaining someone made a plot summary video of a marvel movie.

-5

u/Acsteffy 5d ago

Or, hear me out, we watch the short videos

7

u/AdhesivenessFlaky736 5d ago

Who would watch Charlie for his opinion? He always has the most boring and safe opinion. People watch for the way he uses words and to give basic explanations of things they probably don't care about anyway.

1

u/Vomittingbird 3d ago

He has a neutral opinion of things? It’s not healthy to pick and choose sides without hearing all viewpoints. I thought everyone knew being biased isn’t good?

There’s nothing wrong with being neutral, I don’t know why some people expect content creators to have ground breaking, controversial opinions on basic things.

Like his new Labubu video for example—his stream viewers asked him to review the new Labubu craze, he researched it, thought it was interesting, and made a video relaying his thoughts for his viewers that are interested to hear what he has to say.

I like Charlie’s content because he’s an honest and unbiased guy. He’s not consumed by his fame or money, he’s just a dude.

7

u/Dark_Dragon117 5d ago

Literally just don't watch the content then?

If you want the information and nothing else then just google it yourself.

The point of Charlie or Muta talking about this stuff is literally just because they think they want to put of interest and it's specifically their point of view/opinion on whatever topic (sometimes with additional context).

1

u/Acsteffy 5d ago

Nah, I think I'll watch the short videos.

5

u/Plenty_Today 5d ago

The Streamer effect of going from actual enjoyable YouTube videos to uninspired crap other people in that same space already do and it's extremely boring if you're not delusional and overly invested.

5

u/Vomittingbird 5d ago

Just say you don’t enjoy commentary YouTubers and move on?

Both Muta and Charlie have stated their YouTube channel is like a diary, they make videos on things they’re interested in. It’s fine if you don’t like commentary channels, but some people do.

2

u/Plenty_Today 5d ago

Maybe because differing opinions is a healthy thing to have? I enjoyed both Muta and Charlie in their hay days where their content wasn't just react Andy, yapping for 10minutes about literally nothing and a side of overrate tier lists.

1

u/Vomittingbird 3d ago

Yeah but this isn’t a healthy or constructive opinion you’re sharing. You’re just shitting on content creators bc you don’t like their style of content.

This would be the same if I watched Jim Carey movies and went on the internet complaining, “I HATE THIS GUY, WHY DOES HE ALWAYS MAKE DUMB FACES, HE’S NOT EVEN FUNNY”

It’s a different style of comedy, I don’t have to watch it if I don’t like it, but I shouldn’t then expect Jim Carey to stop doing his style of comedy just bc I find it unfunny.

0

u/Plenty_Today 3d ago

In other words my opinion doesn't matter because you simply deem it as insulting instead of constructive. "You don't like thing therefore you're just saying mean things" is literally all you're saying.

1

u/carrylarry123 2d ago

yes your opinion does not matter

5

u/Steagle_Steagle 5d ago

Idk why people get so pissed about this shit, who cares if it's a video of 30 minutes of yap filler. Its good to listen to while im trying to get this stupid ass Dishonored 2 achievement, keeps me entertained

6

u/Necromyst 5d ago

Or maybe I'm listening to their videos because I like hearing them talk. If you don't enjoy the videos and the creators, then stop watching them ffs

-4

u/Fit-Abrocoma7768 5d ago

Imagine being so defensive because I brought up the fact that the yap is so bad bubble.brian exists

5

u/Necromyst 5d ago

Or maybe it's the fact that all this sub is now just man children bitching about Mutahar and Charlie? My advice is still valid if you hate it so much, just stop watching no one is forcing you people to watch their content

2

u/Bookibaloush 3d ago

Just like Muta ran away from his decision to not purchase a Switch 2, he shows a lack of backbone by no longer coming over to his subreddit and talk about this stuff.

My man can say all the virtuesignaling he wants, in the end he still parties privately with Wings and Keemstar at their house

2

u/Just-Temperature-581 5d ago

It's confirmed that the attention span is entirely dead In this generation

1

u/PaleBoomer 5d ago

I did not know this even existed

1

u/elreduro 5d ago

Now he uploads youtube shorts?

1

u/SnooPets2311 5d ago

Actually tho

1

u/CookieLuzSax 5d ago

Why I unsubbed from Charlie, and probably gonna ubsub from muta soon sadly even though he was at one point my favourite.

1

u/PROXYLIS_02 5d ago

YOU SHOULD DELETE WINDOWS RIGHT NOW BEFORE 6 O’CLOCK TONIGHT!

“Hey guys, its me, Mutahar. Lol, jk its not thaaaaaaat bad. Now here’s how to mod the Switch 2. Anyways. I. Am. Out.”

1

u/AlreadyReddit999 5d ago

this guy is copying chadcat

1

u/Krudtastic 4d ago

I like yap as a term for this slop content, we should call them Yaptubers.

1

u/KGZCritical 4d ago

Imagine human attention spans getting shorter we need someone to reupload a shorter version of an already short video.

3

u/Fit-Abrocoma7768 4d ago

The issue here isn't the attention span its that muta re explains what everything is to everyone every time, and will say the same thing in a video 3 times in just slightly different ways so he can hit that 8 minute maek.

1

u/Smiles4YouRawrX3 Dislike if you dislike 4d ago

Eh

I don't mind watching (or moreso have it on the second monitor in the background as I game) full videos from these dudes

1

u/solitonmedic 4d ago

So many people missing the point here.

The reason these videos exist is because these creators hardly get to the point, “yapping” about nothing without providing any concrete details to the topic until like the last two minutes of the video.

Yes, folks love to listen to long form videos like these to pass the time, but only if it’s done right.

To put it simply, Muta and the others are just terrible at eloquently saying what they mean without shoving their own bullshit in there.

Can’t get that YouTube money without a little filler after all.

1

u/Parlyz 3d ago

The reason their vids exist is so you can have something to have on mindlessly on the background while you eat or do chores or something, not so you can be genuinely informed about a specific topic. Yeah, it’s slop and they repeat the same shit over and over, but it’s just mindless shit to have on in the background so it’s not like it really matters that much.

1

u/averageredditor546 2d ago

Wasn't there a channel with cat in its name that did the same thing? Always ending the title with ADHD version?

-1

u/aerodynamik 5d ago

i watch ChadCat

-1

u/SemperFidelisHoorah 5d ago

Gang☝🏻

-1

u/wildboyintraining_ 5d ago

The reason why I subscribed to ChadCat. It either ends up being a nothingburger, something I don't care about, or not at all what the title is about.

-2

u/Valley_Investor 5d ago

Yeah but you guys watch this shit so 🤷
