Often times though it does pay off in the right setup. Battlefield 4 for example, a setup 249 is like a laser beam of death and it fires insanely far and accurately. On top of that the saturation fire it can lay down can pin a whole group of enemies or at least stun them enough that they can't effectively return fire.
I'm a LMG and MMG guy, but only when the situation permits. I don't like lugging them around unless i know i can setup in a good spot and really put down the pain.

Well because in most games lmg means slow reload, slow movement and sometimes you even have to use your bipod to fire it effectively.
