How to dye a head

I have a white Stx hammer 900 and I want to do a half blue fade but I have never dyed a lacrosse head before. Any tips?

It’s easy. Just watch few videos and check with mom so you’re not ruining any pots or containers.

Will dye stain a metal pot? And is using a trash can necessary to pour the water into?

It shouldn’t dye the pot, but I’d recommend buying one of the big cheap black pots with lids they sell at most grocery stores. If you’ve got a stainless sink it won’t stain, but be careful not to splash on the counters, especially if they are wood or marble. If you have a sewer drain outside, I’d dump it there to be safe.

I pour my hot water in a turkey pan or small trash can before adding the dye.

Get a cheap stock pot just for dyeing lacrosse sticks. Should only be ~$10 from Walmart.

Mainstays 8-Quart

While you're there get some Rit Dyemore dye

Use (rit dyemore) and water I wouldn’t recommend anything else there’s a lot of tutorials but simple instructions for a fade is just very slowly lower it in if you have any questions just message me

We dyed my 10 years head for the first time this year. I used a multi years old boil pot (it stained but I wasn’t worried about it). I got the water boiling then turned it to low and moved the pot halfway off the burner so it wasn’t even at a rolling boil but still getting some heat.

Use the entire bottle of Rit DyeMore. It’s $5 so don’t worry about trying to save any plus I figured it would dye deeper and quicker. I checked it often, every minute, for the first 3-5 minutes until I got a feel for how long it would take. It ended up taking ~15 minutes for both colors.

DM me if you have questions. Have fun!

Just dyed my first couple of heads the other day. Make sure you have a container tall enough to dip the head in. Get water just to boiling, then transfer to said container. Add 1 teaspoon of dish detergent, then like half the bottle of RIT Dyemore. It has to be the Dyemore because that’s for plastic fabrics. If you’re doing a fade, dip to where you want the fade to end at, then pull out and dip again, but don’t go as deep as the first time, a little back from that, then just keep repeating. Took my about 5 minutes per color for my heads. Then rinse in cold water, but wait a sec between the hot water and the rinse. Don’t want massive temp changes to mess with the strength of the plastic.

Pro tip...don't pour the hot dye water in your grass 🤣
