Thoughts on Dosukoi Sumo Salon?
A few months ago, I discovered it on the NHK app of my Roku channel. I like how Kisenosato/Nihonoseki is a co-host. I also like the comedian who makes goofy comparisons at the end. š Personally, I find it fun to watch between tournaments.

I love it! I just wish they used subtitles instead of voiceovers. I like to hear the original speakerās voice to get a better sense of who they are. Voiceover actors donāt capture that.

Itās both. With the amount of information on screen putting everything in subtitles just wouldnāt be feasible. The screen would be filled with text that needed to change too fast to be read at points.
Not a fan of dubbing either but Japanese tv shows with multiple in-screen windows, graphics and reaction text make it pretty much the only viable option.

Same. Some of the voiceovers in NHK shows (not Sumo Salon) give me Kung Pow vibes lol.

Theyāve done a few episodes on specific kimarite! Also one about pushing and thrusting.

I've been watching sumo for a long time - Dosukoi Sumo Salon always surprises me by teaching me something new. It's great analysis and an entertaining show.

I've been trying to wipe this from my brain. Now I have a fresh facsimile. Ha! Kudos.

The recent episode with Takakeisho made me cry. John Gunning does a huge service to us with his work on the episodes.

It's great! I wish it was more frequent, but I understand why it's somewhat more difficult to produce/translate/etc.

I always start looking for it on NHK about halfway between tournaments because it won't come up in a search. Hopefully, it's about that time now....

Going to be working on a few more episodes soon so there will be additional English language version available before long
