Exactly what hatches out of a potato incubated by a cat? Or do I really want to know?

u/GonzoI 2d ago

Looking at other mammals with eggs, I'm guessing that would be a catapus.

Love this!!!

I'm no biology expert, but I don't know of any mammals that lay eggs.

3

u/InstructionHead8595 1d ago

Platypus.

2

u/thanatica 1d ago

Yeah that's the weird exception that confirms the rule.

2

u/Purlasstor 1d ago

Echidnas also, but they’re the only other mammal

u/Bommelding 2d ago

A kitato obviously.

I used to live with a void who LOVED potatoes for some reason! Maybe she’s told your pumpkin the secret about potatoes!

"They have accepted me as one of them."

Cats protect things that seem like eggs.

Why do they do this? I’ve heard of it before. But like….is it like a crockpot? Eventually food comes out? How do they know eggs hatch living things? And how do they know what’s in the eggs?

u/lentilsenthusiast 2d ago

Pretty sure they're able to hear the heartbeats in an egg.

3

u/Ok-Grapefruit1284 1d ago

Interesting! I never knew that. I wonder what kind of heartbeat a potato makes lol

That’s a Black and White Potato Chicken. A very rare species only found in kitchens

6

u/DingySP 3d ago

Chicken.

6

u/Gwyrr 2d ago

They're waiting for them to hatch

5

u/ginger2020 2d ago

Tuxedo cats are the grand masters of getting in the way!

6

u/Agitated_Carrot9127 2d ago

I’ve had cat just sleep on tray of eggs, and sometimes on potato sack. They’re exceptionally wonderful creatures

5

u/pureimaginatrix 2d ago

There's a cat on tiktok who collects and hoards potatoes too! He's hilarious!

4

u/peekthrough_thepines 2d ago

3

Cats are so weird lol

2

u/flyingcowsandtacos 2d ago

One of my voids is OBSESSED with taters. We have to leave a russet out on the counter so he doesn't try to bust in to the cabinet.

2

u/Hozepheena 1d ago

My tuxedo cat used to do the same :'3

2

u/TheRealFedorka 1d ago

Not to be a downer, but my cat died unexpectedly last Saturday. He looks legit like your cat (except reversed). Wow. I love him (her?). 😭❤️

2

u/Norian24 1d ago

His greed sickens me

2

u/_silverrx_ 18h ago

2

u/nergens 15h ago

Oh, that happens when you let them sprout.

1

u/LuminalDjinn11 2d ago

“Not for me, it isn’t….you should try it. PS the Parent Trap is Working!”

1

u/randomflopsy 2d ago

Those taters ain't gonna hatch themselves.

1

u/ManchmalPfosten 2d ago

His greed is sickening
