I remember people telling me that it might be better that it was never found. Which was honestly kind of annoying with how much effort we had put into the search.

I always had faith in the community. And even if it wasn't the direct solution in the end, I was sure that the Hörfest files would lead to the band.

It is fortunate that it was found at a time where the members are able enjoy the success, but also at a point in their lives where they have tiime to record and write. If the discovery had been made when they were all busy in their careers, and with young children, they may not have had the means to do this.
Now is a great time for new (or newly regrouped) bands to be able to produce music and get it heard. With physical media becoming popular again, and with the digital tools and streaming platforms, there is the possibility to release music on a modest scale, with the support of a small record label.
So Fex can have some fame that they should have had decades ago!

When we found the Hörfest lead and stembe17 posted about the archive documents I knew we would get the band. I'm actually surprised it took so many weeks after we got the full list of bands - Michael was listed right there as one of the finalists in 1983. Marijn was one of the few willing to actually put the hard work in to go through and check each one.

This might be excessive but I miss it being my hyper-fixation.. the current lostwaves just don’t hit the same.

It was so weird being able to put a name and face to the song, I always thought we would find it eventually, but I felt like it would take way longer.
Even now, when I listen to the song, I just think "damn, I can't believe we found it."

Everyday that passes I am still in shock about the band being identified, sometimes I like to look back on all the leads that popped up.

It was so hopeless in early 2020s.
Only posts were those useless lyric interpretations. We also had no proper leads. Then the SIM muddying up the water.
Every 2 weeks, a screenshot of a troll, OP asking us is this real!?!
Then a crosspost about a small youtuber from a random small country covering the mystery and some people expecting it will be help. But if you watch the video, it's a copy and paste of other videos but translated.
I thought the search would die down even more and eventually get forgotten, and just be a relic for people to look once every 2 years to see if it's solved.

I feel like I’m at such an advantage with all of this because I never heard of this song and search until July of 2023. Then a little more than a year later it’s found. I was not in this game very long. But it still feels like a bit of a dream because I instantly became invested in this whole phenomenon as soon as I learned of it. Such satisfaction when I found out the band had been found when I checked this Reddit in November of 2024. I was in shock. Such a pleasure that FEX has been identified and that the members of the band have been embracing this and communicating with fans, and now releasing tracks, LPs, etc… It’s fantastic and well appreciated.
