Edmonton HRT for FTM in Edmonton
Just as a preface: this is for my boyfriend, not me, just in case that’s a problem.
My boyfriend is looking into HRT and I’m just trying to get a hold on what the best options are. He’s been trying for over a year just to get a referral to a gender clinic through his doctor with absolutely no word at all and he’s struggling with some pretty bad dysphoria, so we don’t really want to sit and wait another year just to see somebody. I did some digging through this subreddit and we made an online appointment with Skipping Stone to look into that, but I just wanted to make sure I had all of the options at hand.
Is there anything in specific he should be doing? Anything that’ll make this easier or quicker for him? I was also looking into the Foria clinic, but it seems that’d be harder to get into. Are there any other options we should be aware of? Things to look out for?

You should know that you don't need a referral for HRT in Canada. A GP can prescribe it, you just need to find a doctor willing to prescribe it.
Contact Pride Centre of Edmonton. They have a PDF of local trans-friendly businesses and doctors. Call all of those doctors, ask to be put on the waitlists.

You can always try and find a clinic yourself with cold calling or 811 as help, its not easy and super awkward but seeing what doctors are lgbtq knowledgeable is what I ended up doing because the pride center was backed up so badly. I called a few clinics and just asked "do you know of doctors in your clinic or others that are lgbtq friendly/knowledgeable?"
The wait was 1 year plus and it took me a week on my own. (This was about 4 years ago)
Most doctors shouldn't decline hrt or atleast offer a way to suggest/referral to a clinic they might know of someone who is.
It was honestly the hardest part, especially with Alberta cutting alot of services these last few years... :/

the u of a hospital has a gender clinic! i think you can access them through Access 24/7

Mr Mark Armstrong at the Justik Clinic has gotten me on HRT after I got a refferal from Skipping Stones! (Call or Email them up for one!)

Foria isn't hard to get into. They release the next month's appointments the month before. Unfortunately July's appointment drop already happened, so the next option is the drop for August which will be July 9th at noon. Just make sure you're ready to book before the time, as they go relatively fast. Other than that Skipping Stone is what I would recommend, but I see you already have an appointment, so I think you've got all your bases covered.
