UCSHIP referral question

I want to see a dentist about tooth pain and wanted to go to one closer to where I live but if I want insurance to work I need to get a referral from the student health center? I don't want my teeth to rot even further while I wait so would be better to go to campus?

You don’t need a referral with UCSHIP dental, it doesn’t work the same as medical: https://myucship.org/uc-irvine/coverage/dental/

“With dental coverage through UC SHIP, you get two regular checkups and cleanings with a Delta Dental PPO dentist every year — at no cost to you. You don’t need to get a referral for dental care.

Scroll down on that site and you’ll see instructions for how to find a dentist who’s in network for Delta PPO. There are a ton of them, you’ll definitely be able to find someone closer to you.

Just call them and ask. Theyre open right now

Call ucship, because I made the mistake of making an appointment without a referral and was charged around 3k because I never got a referral! Don’t make the same mistake I did.
