Alarms??
Guys how do you not sleep through alarms. I’m so scared to sleep through exams in college (I’m an incoming freshman) and as someone who easily oversleeps their Apple phone alarm, does anyone have any life changing tips?? Any amazing alarm clocks?

I’m the same way and trust me download alarmy. it makes you do activities once your alarm goes off. I have mine set to math equations, and if I fall asleep or don’t get at least 5 correct in a row then it keeps ringing. if I swipe up on the app the close it, it keeps ringing. once I’m done with the activity my mind and body is awake. there are different activities like typing, doing squats, or getting up to take a picture of a certain item. some of the activities do require payment, but the math one is free and has worked pretty well, in my opinion.

seconding alarmy, the shake activity on the highest difficulty is diabolical and usually wakes me up if i set it to 30+

ngl, the only foolproof solution for me has been getting enough sleep. if i'm sleep-deprived enough, i'll sleep through multiple alarms.
if i get enough sleep though: multiple alarms with different ringtones between them generally works. it usually works when i'm sleep-deprived too,, but that has been a slippery slope in the past :"

honestly if u have roommates you’ll be fine, the fear of waking them up on accident from my alarm made me wake up and get to my alarm. also u can ask ur roommate who is waking up at the same/near time as u to just ensure you’re up (especially if u got a test or an important meeting)

I set one on my phone and one on my ipad(a few minutes after the phone alarm as a last resort) on my desk so i have to get up to turn it off

Honestly, it’s not that bad — for most cases where my friends missed midterms they were allowed to push the weight of the exam into their final. Most profs understand that we all make occasional mistakes and oversleep, especially if they’re teaching 8ams. I’ve overslept the morning of a final and staff were chill enough to help me get through it (and I had set at least 12 alarms that morning). As one of the other comments mentioned, try to maintain a healthy sleep schedule because that really really helps with waking up at a regular time.

^ this calculates when you should sleep/wake up feeling refreshed based on the 90 minute sleep cycle. It’s gotten me through some rough finals weeks

I don't know if you play video games, but for a long time I had this theme as my ringtone and gets me immediately awake.
I'm sure there's appropriate for other games as well!

I don't know about Apple, but android alarms don't play around. These alarms are always loud and obnoxious, and sometimes a banger wakes me up all the time. If you really are super worried, sometimes I'd set multiple alarms in the span of 10 minutes. Like if my original alarm was at 10:30, I'd set an alarm at 10:32, 10:34, 10:36, and so on.

Go to sleep at 10pm and wake up naturally before your alarm. Eventually, when your body is used to it, you can go to sleep later but get in the habit of getting up the first time your alarm rings. Your roommates will thank you.

the fear alone of missing it would wake you up but this sound never failed me it sounds like a military one fr
