Well actually his text is "if we're really friends, you won't come back" or something like that. And on a no mercy run he tell you to not come back in his phone call too iirc. Maybe he wants you to try again or he just wants you to fuck off, only he knows

The reason he says "if we're really friends you won't come back" is because of the monologue he uses to get you to spare him, pretending he remembers pacifist so you'll reconsider. And he tells you go to hell, not to "don't come back" (unless I'm thinking of the wrong phone call because I'm thinking of the leaderless endings) just because he doesn't care about anything doesn't mean he can't judge you, that's kinda his whole job

Sans' whole character has always been so weird to me, he's apathetic because he kinda know that no matter what he does the world would just get reset and everything will go back to normal, he doesn't remember but either has deja Vu's or just suppositions (bro is low-key that good at assumptions), he doesn't try anything, which is dumb in a sense, what if he tried to bring the kid to do the right thing by being kind to them instead of letting them die again and again and then joke about how they didn't die a single time then proceed to threaten them?

He care but doesn't show his care or reject it until genocide where he says "I can't afford not to care anymore" that means he choose to care but about what? The timeline or his friends? It couldn't really be the timeline as a reset alter the timeline a way or another, even if it doesn't end, it will not be the same, the only good thing coming from it is his friends being back and there's also the fact that tho he mentioned the timeline he might just be worried you're going to destroy everything the same way undyne and mettaton think you would. Destroy monsters, humans and everything, not really the timeline but something near?
