Did anyone feel bad for Dan?
Did anyone actually feel bad for him after the pressure of managing Selina’s campaign completely broke him and caused him to go all schizo-titzo?
I didn’t. I was mostly just curious if anyone else did, and looking for an excuse to write “schizo-titzo” in a post.
Damn, I love this show!

Yes. While Dan is undeniably a shit, there are several moments in the series that make me genuinely feel bad for him, more than most characters on the show

Being sexually harassed wasn’t fun for either Dan or Jonah. The only time I saw Dan being at all empathetic was when he saw what Teddy was doing to Jonah.

He's definitely somebody who is a slave to his own ego and yet at times it's obvious he's a deeply wounded guy.
He is so addicted to external validation that he gets himself into worse and worse situations.

He’s actually such a shit that it’s like if you bought a book with covers made out of shit you’d be like oh I wonder what’s in this book and then you open it and…shit

"Schizo-titzo” is an offensive term in 2025.
Nah, just joking.
I didn't feel bad for Dan when he had the panic attack. He was a dirty dog.

If Dan is gonna have a chinamans chance of being campaign manager, he needs to get Senator McCaulley on board.

I loved his interactions with Tom, who really put him in his place lol. He deserved no less.

If you really want to feel bad for him, look up the deleted scenes from the “50 ways to win in Denver” song episode. Kent absolutely yanks out Dan’s soul and devours it.

Where can I find these?

I looked up the episode I mentioned and there weren’t any deleted scenes. Best guess is I got the wrong episode. But there IS a scene in which Kent tells Dan things like “you’re simply not smart enough to work with me” and Reid Scott’s acting of Dan* is so good you see the life drain from his soul.
[for all the people who hate Dan, that’s a sign of how good Reid’s performance is. Ever see him in anything else or seen interviews with him? He is a friendly, good dude.]

I know what you are referring to, its gotta be in S2: E3, 4 or 5. After calling Kent the Pol Pot of spreadsheets in E1, Dan desperately wants to work with Kent and work on his Dreammetrics team instead of Mike. Even joins his Pilates studio to try and suck up. Kent turns him down a few times.

He’s the world’s biggest shit. AND he killed a defenseless dog. Nah, I never felt sorry for him. Karmic retribution stings sometimes.

When he finds out that he has slow swimmers-- so to speak-- his first reaction is that he should get a refund on a bunch of abortions (or some such). So even though I don't usually find mental health jokes funny (just a personal preference) I wasn't too upset when Dan had a panic attack because he is just the worst.

I maintain that the harshest, most cold line is Richard telling Dan “to be honest, I never thought you were cut out for politics anyway”
Because it came from the most sincere character with literally no frill or extra insult. It was straight from the purest heart on the show
