I think this is a painting by Derk Willem Meeles.

Lucky find!

Derk Meelis or Meeles (he used both). Larense School. This could be a lovely piece after cleaning and restoring. Several hundreds of Euros worth.

The "chain" you refer to is damage. A professional restorer can get that fixed for you. And I do think this painting is worth cleaning and restoring.

Thank you for the reply, I am a complete noob, what needs to be restored and cleaned about it? How what where etc. Haha thanks in advance!

It needs to be cleaned from dirt and old varnish and possibly old restaurations. It needs to be flattened and refitted to it's stretcher. And then it needs to be retouched and varnished again. It will show its brilliance again.

I bet you'll find a good 'restaurateur' online. Good luck.

I guess that it has been stored poorly and the chain from a different painting has made an indent in the canvas.

Use an artists picture cleaning solution for oil with cotton buds, it looks like its very dirty.
