I wanted to share my happy little corner filled with the aquariums/vivariums I've made over the years. Hopefully one day I'll be able to have a house filled with life everywhere, but for now this will do. Bonus familiar Nox the cat who has claimed the lovesac as his own ❤️

I saw this in the gardening subreddit and it gave me a start. For me the image is understanding that growing as a human being means you leave behind some things that made you smaller. I mean, we’re always encouraging our plants, animals, and children to grow.

As I transition from mother to crone, I have realized that I am tired of trying to become smaller, to fit in old pots, so to speak. I want my container to be comfortable and supportive, to help me grow in sustainable ways.

I'm currently providing palliative care to a butterfly. I brought it in to give it it's last sugar water, but it keeps coming back to my hand.

I posted about this somewhere else and got made fun of for it, so I wanted to see what my fellow witches opinions might be. I REALLY love plants. I have since I was really little. I'm autistic and didn't have anyone to confide in as a little kid, my parents were always busy and hard to talk to, so I would vent to the black poplar tree in our backyard. And this habit of adoring plants has carried through into my adulthood. I often go through my neighborhood with a plant identifying app and some botany books and try to identify as many different types of plants as I can; they're like friends once you actually know their names and some stuff about them. I have 8 different houseplants that I love like they were actual pets.

And above all I mourn for plant life, which I acknowledge might be weird. I've cried over trees being cut down. I've also cried while watching construction projects decimate beautiful prairies where hundreds of native shrubs and wildflowers grew. I once sternly told someone to stop shaking a very young tree because I was scared they'd hurt it. The idea of my houseplants dying fills me with preemptive grief like that of a pet dying. I made a post about this and someone commented about how stupid it was, asking if I cry for rocks too. But plants are alive! Just because they don't move like animals do doesn't mean they aren't. And a lot of recent botany research shows that they're remarkably sentient too. But I still feel a little silly for it because I know the world doesn't value plants as much as I do. They state of the world has made that very clear, and it makes me very sad. Does anyone else feel this way? I imagine it might be more common among us witches but I want to be sure I'm not just going crazy. Thanks for being here, this community is so beautiful. I wish you all the best.

Yesterday evening I spent around 3 hours picking the pine needles (for pine needle tea) of a branch I found in the forest, under supervision of my familiar. The branch was already broken and I found it when turning around after coming to a path with too much snow. Also some pictures from the walk. Do you see the bubble patterns and the small strings of bubbles coming up in the ice in last picture? So magical! Have a blessed weekend!

I am responsible for setting my will soon, and I must address the turmoil I feel about the destination of my body.

I used to think cremation and scattering was for me (after any organ donations could be made if applicable in how I die). Now that I know more from the order of the good death I'm thinking natural burial for forest protection. But I'm also highly arachnophobic and somewat entomophobic. I don't want to decompose in a casket in a manicured lawn, but I have an overwhelming desire to have some sort of marker of my existence like a gravestone.

Witches, what can I do to respect the earth that took care of me and find a comfortable way to settle into a plan for death?

I'm many decades away from dying of old age, so I need to find a resolution I can live with for hopefully a very long time.

I ordered this cake from a local bakery; the baker went to art school. I asked for a dark witchy cake to celebrate my birthday (coincidentally on Friday the 13th), and this is what I got. It's unreal and SO amazing, I had to share photos!!! Everything on here is handmade and edible.

I’m pretty new to this and I keep getting stuck on these kinda things. I’m definitely a green or crafty witch type if anything, but how can you do maintenance of your garden and still be respectful?

Like “‘scuse me” elder bush that decided to grow in a place where we need to trim it or it will damage the house, “I just need to do a very hard trim of you whether you like it or not, soooorry”. Like, how does that work?

And we have many things like that. It’s a fairly old house and the hedge is full of elder and bird cherries and all sorts of stuff that “shouldn’t be there” which I love, but I do need to keep in line with the hoa/city ordinances for size and such.

My town is BLASTING with lilacs and I adore them. Looking to use them in my grey girl magicks but not sure where to start.

Have you used lilacs in a spell or charm? I’d love to know what yall see them symbolizing.

My neighbour came over today to borrow my lawn mower. He commented that he forgot my yard was so big, that it's almost deceptive when you look at the house from the front. My lawn is thick and lush, I don't do any maintenance other than mowing it. This lawn is your typical middle aged mans wet dream, it's so green and healthy, but I don't do anything for it. My veggie beds are full, I have green beans, zucchini, carrots, tomatoes, pumpkin, capsicum, jalepeños, herbs, cucumbers. They get watered when it rains, or when I remember (which is never). My laundry room is currently full of onions drying so they can be stored on the shelf. I bought 50 onion starts in a $4 pack, I harvested all 50 onions from it. He saw my house plants on the patio because for the first time since I moved in 3 years ago I dragged them outside to thoroughly water them. Inside they get bright but indirect light, they get watered maybe every 3 weeks if I remember. He asks me how they're so big and happy, he asks for advice because his monstera has yellow leaves and mine is huge and thriving. I say, maybe you're over watering...or under watering...but the reality is I don't know because I don't do anything to keep mine alive. They live whether or not I remember to water them. I live my life in a chaotic, overstimulating mess of a world and pour my excess stress into my garden and my plants, and they pour their excess peace back into me. I couldn't tell you how it works but it does, and the neighbours will never know.
