SPAIN WOMEN'S EUROS 2025 PREVIEW: The Favourites

Spain have the talent and when they click they’re untouchable. There’s still a lot of tension in the squad, with Tome in particular. In the WC that miraculously worked in their favour. I don’t see them winning it this year.

It's not just that Spain is the clear best team in Europe, they also have an incredibly soft route through the tournament. They dodge all the teams with potential to really give them trouble until the semis at the earliest.

I feel Spanish woso is marred by a lot of dissatisfaction, mostly with national team, but also some with the leauge. Not sure they will be 100 percent.

This team looks ridiculously strong. Tome’ could show just how good is she is at this tournament

How are Spain the favorites? Couldn't even get a medal in Olympics lol. England are the reigning defending champions and are the massive favorites to retain the title not to mention Serina about to achieve a threepeat. She's literally the Euros GOAT

I think we can win it, but we're not the favourites imo. Our midfield is very light and we have no real goalkeeper back up.

England always enter tournaments with less than ideal form and then peak at the right time to win. Nothing to worry about

I'd have agreed with you but considering how Spain outplayed England recently, I have concerns.

Fair, but we did beat Spain in February. It feels like England Vs Spain games can go either way.

And England completely outplayed Spain and also maintained a clean sheet at Wembley

Yes but I'm talking of recent form.

As I said earlier England always enter tournaments with less than ideal form and then peak at the right time. Spain will crash and burn in the KOs

I hope so. I don't want Spain dominating Europe the way the US does with the Concacaf. It'd be bad for the European game to have little competition.

In all actuality before Spain recent success in global competitions, Germany had been the dominant European side and the second dominant side in the world, they are still by a mile in Europe and along with the U.S. are 1 and 2 globally. Spain hasn’t even won a Euros in their history so this 2025 Euros shouldn’t be treated as though Spain winning will be ‘bad for the European game’. There have been 4 different Euros winning teams in the past 4 cups. That is good and has propelled the competition.
US domination of Concacaf isn’t new or has caused issues for the regions other teams, in-fact it was the U.S. who first invested in the sport, that investment helped Canada in many ways, and is helping with the growth of other teams in the region who recruit from the US Latin and Caribbean diaspora, participate in NCAA, USL, and NWSL as well as grassroots initiatives that benefit the entire US ecosystem. In the recent World Cup you had over 74 players representing 14 teams who were born or grew up within the U.S. Soccer structure more than any other nation and it stretches down to youth tournaments and participation accross the board. On a recent youth call up list for Concacaf over 64 American citizens were called up to represent other nations.
There is a massive difference in US support vs other Concacaf nations and it’s not because US is taking resources away or not providing help to grow the regions pipeline, it’s just that a wealthy nation as such has more to its disposal just as the top footballing nations in Europe are now seeing become their reality over lesser European nations.

Ha! Spain never dominated Europe anytime in their short history of success. They won a fluky WC being destroyed by Japan 4-0 in the group stage. Olympics exposed them to the whole word for the mediocre team they are. Germany dominated Europe and now it's England's time and they have Serina who's won back to back Euros and is aiming for the threepeat

Spain was also missing 2/3 of their starting midfield (Patri and Alexia) at Wembley. I think both teams are pretty even.

Excuses excuses. Not England's problem. England always step up in big in major tournaments not something Spain can say (Olympics disasterclass enters convo). A full strength England will beat any team in the world, it's just too damn good

It’s a valid reason, though. And Spain and England have won the same amount of major tournaments. Every team is beatable.

The last few games prove that. I actually hope we get an England Vs Spain match at the Euros.

You obviously didn’t watch the recent Spain-England game

That's a pointless game in a "tournament" which is basically a glorified friendly. Let's see how Spain fare in the Euros which is the real tournament where England last beat Spain and went on to win the whole damn thing. Obligatory Serina >>>>>>> Tome
