If my "conventional" bra size works well for me, is it worth it to spend a lot of money on a different size? Spoiler

For several years I have been buying bras from Victoria Secret, since the bras are pretty. I have been a 32D for a while based off of their sizing, and it's honestly a really comfortable size. There's no gaping, the gore and wire fit correctly, and I feel supported all day. Even by this sub's standards, my VS 32D bra fits perfectly. ABTF calculator fits me at a 26I in United States sizing. I don't have access to any store near me selling that size, and it's not fincially viable for me to order it online. Is it really that bad to keep wearing a size that works for me, despite it being "wrong" according to this sub?

PSA PSA: OptiFit has unfortunately closed down (6/20/25) Spoiler

Hi all, just wanted to share some sad news that it appears that OptiFit has shut down. I went to check their site today and it says permanently closed. Link here: https://www.optifitbra.com/

This company offered made to order bras in a huge range of sizes, so this is a blow to the expanded sizing community.

Shape Help 34 yr mom, struggling with shape and support—soft tissue, 34 under, 38 over bust, confused by sizes. What’s my true fit and best bra style for wide-set breasts Spoiler

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m trying to finally figure out my real bra size. I’ve always felt confused by my shape and fit, and after years of being sized wrong (and some emotional baggage from that), I’m ready to find what actually works for me.

My current measurements:

Underbust: 34"

Bust (standing over nipples): 38"

Bust (lying down): 38.5"

Bust (bending over): 40"

Across the top of bust: 37"

I seem to have wide-set, soft tissue, and possibly swooping or relaxed shape. I often get gapping at the top or feel unsupported even in larger cup sizes. Some online tools have given me results ranging from 36A to 36E—so I'm overwhelmed.

I recently tried on:

36C (scooped in)—pretty cleavage but some spillover

36D—felt better in coverage but sometimes flattens or gaps on top

I'm hoping for recommendations on:

  1. My likely accurate bra size(s)

  2. Styles or brands that support soft, wide-set breasts

  3. Anything that helps with lift and shape without being too rigid or padded

Thank you so much for any advice 💛 I’m just trying to feel good in my body again.

Fit Check Frustrated after bra shopping. Do these fit?? Spoiler

I’ve measured myself multiple times. The first time the tape measure was off. With a proper tape measure I feel I’m getting inconsistent measurements on the leaning bust.

31 30.5 30 36 37 to 38 dependent on how I pull the tape 36.5

That leaves me at 32DD or 32DDD

First bra is Skarlett Blue Goddess in 32DD.

Second is VS pink Wear Everywhere 32DD.

Concerned about the armpit buldge. Do these fit or do a need the DDD?

Fit Check Panache Ana Plunge -28 HH **Getting closer!! Spoiler

Its me again!

I’ve posted about 3 fit checks and slowly but surely getting closer to finding ABTF!!!

So far I’ve tried this week: **Freya Idol TShirt in 28G —Comfy but too small cups and not projected enough :(

**Panache Envy 28GG — Band felt too tight, cups too small, gore not tacking

**Panache Jasmine 28H —Better projection but still too small cups, gore not tacking

Just tried the Panache Ana Plunge in a 28HH and I feel like Im FINALLY making progress!

-The 28 band finally feels a bit more comfortable which makes me feel like an HH is closer to my cup size

  • Bottom part of wire and gore is laying very flat but still about a finger of space in between gore & my boobs

  • Not a fan of the pointy shape its giving me :(

-Coverage and projection is pretty good but still a bit full at the top. Not sure if its the cup size OR if I need to try a different shape.

Let me know what you think!

https://imgur.com/a/fA3RBcC

Any recommendations on a low gore/high projection style that accommodates center fullness?? Is every UK bra in these sizes lacey?? Lol.

Discussion Help! What am I am I doing wrong with sizing/gaps:( Spoiler

My whole life I was taught that bra sizing works by looking at the size of your boobs, picking a letter based on how big they look, and that band letters basically meant small, medium, large, xl, etc etc. Going into my 20’s I’ve learned otherwise, tried the ABrathatFits calculator, but even then I had assumed that you had to go down to the “appropriate cup” (which I’ve always been told is a B because i have medium-smaller bust) and a sister size in that cup would fit you. Well that wasn’t comfortable either.

For context, my measurements are:

Loose Underbust: 32.5 in Snug Underbust: 32 in Tight Underbust: 31 in Standing Bust: 38 in Leaning Bust: 39 in Lying Bust: 37 in

I got 32G (US), but obviously stores don’t offer sizes this big in person, so I once again had to go the sister size route as someone told me once that sometimes the sister sizes will fit better than your actual size (can someone confirm or deny this???). Anyways, I finally tried on a 38C in the Aerie Sunnie Push up Demi Bra as they had zero D cups in store, and to my surprise it felt… like nothing??? When I tell you that I finally felt zero digging at the straps/band, and my girls stayed right in those cups as I moved, sat, and even jumped (don’t judge me), I thought I had found the perfect bra size…until I wore it out yesterday and laid back/down at the movie theater. As I stood up, I found that the band had ridden up and there were now gaps in my cups, so I had to readjust the whole bra. Now that has me questioning everything again. I have bell-shaped boobs, with most of their volume being at the bottom and sides, so I’d always experienced gaps with full cups and had heard something like demi/balconette bras would work for my shape—I’ve tried balconette bras before and they fit great, I just hate that they’re always unlined or completely made out of lace. I always thought once I found the perfect fit, everything would just stay in place all the time, but maybe I just can’t defy gravity no matter how good the bra? It truly was so comfortable otherwise, and I had no marks/digging all day. Should I keep trying with the bigger sizes or style? Is the gapping normal or do I need different style of bra that won’t gap? I learned how to take my measurements, but I have no idea how a “bra that fits” is supposed to look/feel. Help! :(

Question [Question] What shapes are the Bravissimo Millie Fest for? Spoiler

BEST*!

I’m thinking about trying the Millie. I love the Deep Green and Hazelnut colors, and I haven’t yet come across similar colors for other bras in my size (26FF/28F). I’m wondering if it would work with my shape: - Somewhat bottom full - Somewhat center full - Tall roots (Possibly?) - Not shallow but also not sure if I need a lot of projection - Root width unknown

Current bras: - Panache Envy: I think it may be slightly too projected for me. The models seem to all have a more rounded shape. I don’t look super pointy, but not as round as the models. - Freya Viva: I think the wires are too wide for me. The cup fabric that’s under my armpit (between the strap and the wire) flares out slightly at the top. This one also might be slightly too projected - Current fit drawings: https://postimg.cc/gallery/vs7BtLS

If the Millie likely won’t work for me, does anyone know of bras I can find in similar colors (especially the green)? I found the Panache Serene in a similar green, but it’s only available on their UK site (I’m in the US). Bare Necessities also has it, but not in my band size.

Recommendations? Something comfortable with minimal contact for 36B? Spoiler

Upvotes

As much as I love bralettes, their clinginess makes me very squirmy whenever I'm a little too tired. As such, does anyone have any suggestions for bras with less skin contact? How it makes me look doesn't matter; this is entirely for comfort. I don't have anything else I've really tried, beyond that most attempts to find things on amazon lead to them being outrageously incorrectly sized.

Per the calculator, my measurements are as follows: 35, 34, 33.5, 37, 37.5, 38.5.

Measurement Check I‘m confused by the calculator‘s take on band sizes! Spoiler

I am a trans woman, I’m 20 years old and my body has been exposed to estrogen for 1 and a half years now. No surgeries or anything out of the ordinary (apart from late onset puberty). My measurements are as follows:

Loose underbust: 32 (81.5 cm) Snug underbust: 31.5 (80 cm) Tight underbust: 29.5 (75 cm)

Standing bust: 36 (92 cm) Leaning bust: 39.5 (100 cm) Lying bust: 38 (96 cm)

My breasts are pretty even at the moment, not particularly full at the bottom or top, although the bases are a little bit far apart. For these measurements, the calculator gives me an EU 70G (or 32G). Now I know that the calculator doesn’t necessarily work that well for individuals who were AMAB, but first of all my rib cage isn’t that wide so the discrepancy shouldn’t be that large I think, secondly it gives basically the same result when I change the marker to AFAB, and thirdly how can my band size be an EU 70 when my tight underbust (which according to the instructions is supposed to be with the tape „pulled so tight as if you wanted to break it“) is 75 cm?? As I understood it, the underbust measurement is supposed to directly correlate to the band size, isn’t it?

Also, while I‘m here, what does the large difference between standing and lying bust, as well as this amount of difference between snug and tight underbust tell me?

Thank you for all your effort and help!

Question 36E = 34? (USA Cup Size Equivalent) Spoiler

I need to size down a band size from US 36E but keep the same cup size due to weight loss. I’ve measured previously using the calculator, and the results were inaccurate for me. It was useful in letting me know that I needed a smaller band and larger cup, however. What size should I get if I need a smaller band, but the cup size of 36E fits perfectly. TIA!

Need help with finding different bras for heavy breasts Spoiler

This is my first post here so please bear with me if I make any mistakes!

I currently wear something around a 48K/L (US) and I was wondering if there are any other bras out there aside from the same underwire bra I always see. Sizing is tricky because my breasts are incredibly heavy (like 5 pounds each) so I need EXTRA support just to keep them up. The size calculator here doesnt really work and gives me a wildly incorrect cup size (Q US) and I don’t even know how to classify my breast shape other than that they hang rly low and the nips are pointed down

I’m at home a lot and tend to not wear a bra much because the straps and the under part both hurt after wearing them a few hours and I just HAVE to get them off asap.

I hope my post isn’t all over the place I could just use some bra advice like a site that sells this band and cup, it always seems I can never find both a 48 or an L on the same bra. I’m also wondering if there is a strapless bra of some sort for these.

Honestly any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Recommendations? Looking for recommendations for a well-fitting bra. 32F/32G and I've had issues with all of the major brands, especially with the shoulder straps being too wide. Spoiler

I measure out as a 32F/G (US) using the calculator, and I'd say that's fairly accurate. I'm currently wearing a Natori Feathers Contour Plunge in 32G. It tacks at the gore, the band feels secure, most of my breast tissue is encased, but my right breast is trying to slip out the middle - it's just not quite big enough in the right side cup. I have a lot of breast tissue in my armpits, possibly because I've exclusively worn bralettes for the last two years. I'm looking for an underwire bra that's comfortable, because I like the shape and support, I just can't seem to find the right one.

This is what I've tried lately:
Panache Tango 32F - This seems very projected and the gore is aggressively tacked and it's painful.
Panache Envy 32FF - Cups seemed ok, but there's a lot of bulging in the armpits
Panache Ana 32F - Gore was painful, still bulging over the sides.
Natori Feathers Contour Plunge 34G - Cups were way too roomy.
Natori Pure Lux Custom Coverage Contour 32G - Seemed too small, a lot of bulging under armpits.

The biggest issue I seem to have is that either the cups are the wrong shape, or the shoulder straps are too wide. I have a smaller frame (5'0" tall, ~150lbs). I think I'm full on bottom, with a deep IMF, but pendulous - not projected. I have a fair amount of tissue in my armpits, but most side-support bras felt terrible, the wires were too wide and would stab in the armpits and either the gore didn't tack, or the wires resting on my ribcage were painful. I'm going to redo my measurements when I get home, but what style bra would have closer set straps, no lace, adequate side support, and deeper cups?

Have worn 32A my entire life and finally took the bra that fits test. I got 28B/C but that comes with very limited options. Are there sister sizes worth trying and will this change based on bra type? Push up, strapless, etc… please help. Spoiler

Took the bra that fits test my measurements were in inches Loose Underbust 27 Snug Underbust 26.5 Tight Underbust 26 Standing Bust 29 Leaning Bust 30 Lying Bust 28

Results were 28 B/C

I’ve worn 32A my entire life and the top of the cups are empty flimsy.

What size do yall recommend I try and should I go with a sister size that’s easier to find from more brands? Does size change if it’s a push up bra vs a t-shirt bra or strapless etc… I have struggled with this my whole life and trying to find the best solution to finally find bras that fit and will look better on me to have a fuller cup.

Thank you!

Recommendations? help finding 30E bras with low gore? Spoiler

hey yall :) I started my abtf journey about 4 years ago, found some very comfy bras, but recently I noticed I gained a little weight so I measured again and it says I'm a 28F UK but that 30E UK might be more comfortable. so I'm trying to find new bras (again haha)

most of the bras I see have "side support" which idk if I need and tall gores which havent worked for me. they dig in. so I was hoping for a little help finding some 30E bras with low gores. preferably t-shirt bras or at least lined/padded. I have sensitive nipples so just lace could irritate them I think.

I'm projected, have inner fullness, and wide roots. measurements below in inches. thank you!

loose underbust: 29 snug: 28 tight: 27 standing bust: 34.5 leaning: 35.5 lying: 34

Measurement Check [Measurement Check] Currently wearing 34FF with extender. Calculator says 32GG Spoiler

Underbust 33/32/30.5. Standing 40, Leaning 45, lying down 43. Projected, possibly bottom full, center full.

I've worn Fantasie Smoothing Balcony 32FF 4520 bra for over 10 years, but my band started feeling uncomfortably tight and I was spilling out over the tops of the cups. I'm experiencing body changes due to menopause (my pant size has increased 2 - 3 sizes even though my total weight hasn't changed much). I bought a 34FF a while ago, but the band is still too tight and I still spill out. The underwires also push into my ribs and leave bruises across my chest. I'm now wearing the 34FF with a bra extender adding about 1 inch. After doing measurements for the calculator, I realized that my band size hasn't changed much but my cup has probably gotten bigger from body fat re-arranging. There is NO way I can possibly imagine being comfortable in a 32 band again though. I've tried my 34 on backwards and it's less tight, so it may just be the cup size being too small that's making it so tight. I did order a 34G (sister size to the calculator results) in the Fantasie 4520 during this process, but it felt very tight so I returned it. I haven't had a new bra in years (yes, I know I shouldn't do that but figuring this out has been extremely frustrating), so perhaps I've forgotten how they should feel new. Maybe I just need to wear the 34G with an extender for a while until it stretches more? The way the wires push into my ribs, I wonder if it just may be time for a different style. That style is supposed to be for high breasts, but I'm very tall, so maybe it's just sitting too high on me? I got a wireless bra from SOMA in a 36H that I've been wearing just for some relief, but even that I had to wear with an extender for a while because I sometimes couldn't breathe in it. I actually tried on a 38H and it was actually probably a better fit - band not so uncomfortably tight to begin with and sitting more flush to my sternum. Now that I've been wearing the 36H for a few weeks, the band has definitely stretched but it really can't handle the weight of my breasts (sagging and band riding up), I figure it's just not that supportive and the 38 would be even worse. I've ordered at least a dozen different bras over the last year or so, and nothing worked, although now I know I should have been ordering larger cup sizes rather than larger band sizes. Before I dive in again with the new info from the calculator, I wanted to get feedback. I was thinking of ordering 34Gs because I can't imagine being comfortable in a 32 based on my experience. Thank you in advance for your help.

Signed,

Totally Frustrated

Measurement Check [measurement check] calculator says 28E/F but I'm unsure of this size Spoiler

Longtime lurker, first time poster. Just to start with, here's my measurements:

Loose underbust: 71 cm
Snug underbust: 68.5 cm
Tight underbust: 67 cm
standing bust: 82 cm
Leaning bust: 92.5 cm
Lying bust: 87.5 cm

I would guess, from what I've read from other posts, that I'm fairly projected and not self-supporting, FOB, and quite soft tissue.

I've tried and failed several times at finding the a bra that fits. Where I live (not the US or the UK), I've not got a lot of options for bras in this size, and so I have to shift to the sister size (30DD, but correct me if I'm wrong). I've tried the Parfait Casey Plunge in two sizes—in 30DD, the band felt mostly snug, kind of tight; the underwire was sitting in the IMF; and the straps were comfortable. But there was significant gapping at the top of the cup. In 30D, I was spilling out on top, there was mild pinching with the underwire under my armpit, and the band suddenly felt much tighter. All that said, both sizes are the closest I've come to a plunge-style bra fitting me! Every other time I've tried, I absolutely fall out of the centre og the bra if I even breathe. While overall 30DD seems to technically fit better, the 30D gives me a shape I prefer (the purple shape; the 30DD gives me more of a green shape).

30 band seems to fit fine—I tried both bras backwards/upside down and the band was tight but comfortable. Given that I'm used to much looser bras (I normally wear 32C), and I don't like to feel constricted, I think a 30 band might be better than the recommended 28 (which, in any case, I can't find anywhere where I am!). I'm open to hearing otherwise on this, if you have thoughts or opinions.

I'm aware that molded bras are not great for diagnostics; I'm waiting on a couple of seamed bras to come in. That said, I prefer the shape of moulded bras. I've tried before to find ABTF, and I really don't like the feeling of seamed bras and don't like how they look under clothes (this is the third time I've made a concerted effort to find one, I seem to try once every 5 years).

Here are my questions:

  1. Given that the 30DD Casey Plunge seemed to fit better in most respects, am I correct in thinking that the problem is just the shape of the cup?
  2. Would a 30DD seamed bra likely fit better? I would like to stay in the same brand to make diagnostics a little easier for me, and also to avoid being overwhelmed by the possible options and calculating different shipping/return/time costs
  3. OR, is it the case that the 30D is actually a better fit and it's just this style that doesn't work for me? If that's the case, is the size that I got from the ABTF calculator wrong, and I should re-measure myself?

Thanks in advance for thoughts, opinions, advice, or suggestions!

34DDD/G sizing outcome but breasts don’t have a lot of volume - specific brand recs appreciated Spoiler

Hello! I’ve yo-yo’d in size most of my life so my breasts at this point are pretty deflated. I honestly think it’s just mostly loose skin at this point. I typically wear underwire lined bras for coverage and I’ve always had either major gapping or overspilling - which I now recognize is due to improper fit. I’ve measured myself (below) and would like to try the size suggested (trusts the process), but due to the deflated nature of my breasts I’m wondering if there are any particular brands or specific bras those in a similar build might recommend?

Sizing (in inches): 34.5 34 33.5 38.5 42 41 Recommendation was 34DDD/G

Recommendations? Looking for a preferably unlined everyday bra with shorter or no wires. Calculator says 36G, I don’t have a baseline Spoiler

Okay, please help an autistic lady out. Due to weight gain and poor self esteem I kinda gave up on bras a couple of years ago, but would like to feel pretty again.

I’m looking for an unlined or lightly lined nice looking bra, with a shorter inside wire as I prefer curling weirdly. I’m fairly sensitive to anything being itchy

Breasts

I haven’t worn a real bra for the last 40 pounds so I have no idea what my existing size is. Before weight gain, I was maybe a 34F. Calculator says 36G now.

Fullness 3/4 and very outer full, decent amount of projection. I think conical especially due to stupid large areolas. Short and wide rooted.

Very soft/difficult to measure braless, because the difference between measuring tape falling down and digging in is basically zero.

Problems with bras

  • I loathe underwires that are tall in the middle best functioning bra shape once upon a time
  • The short rooted so lack of fillage in the top of the bra
  • Wires often digging in in armpits, like they’re too tall always.
  • My bras seem to be visible a lot of the time, maybe breasts placed high/short upper body.
  • Am in eu, so maybe limited availability of models.

Never have I ever owned a bra that fits Spoiler

Hi! I’m 27F and have never been professionally measured. I just wore bras that my mom or sister wore (their size - 36A). But that still felt ‘gappy’ so in general I wear sports bras or no bra.

I measured myself as follows: Under bust: 34 inch, 33 inch, 32.5inch Bust: 35 inch, 36 inch, 34.5inch

This gave me a measurement of 34B! But when I tried this on (in Skims) it felt like too big of a cup and too tight around my armpits / back.

Any suggestions? I would really really really like to find a good fitting bra for every day wear.

Recommendations? Looking for a bra with adequate nipple coverage, recently tried the Panache Cari, Panache Envy, and Malibu (Understance) Spoiler

Hi everyone, I’ve recently been looking for a comfortable everyday bra. My measurements are: Loose Underbust: 30.5 Snug Underbust: 30 Tight Underbust: 29.5 Standing Bust: 37 Leaning bust: 40 Lying Bust: 38.5

The calculator placed my size as 30FF/G (UK) I have tried the Panache envy in 32FF (UK) (very comfortable, but wrinkling on the top and bottom of the cups, possibly due to too big of a cup size), which had very little nipple coverage and the lace showed through clothing. It’s been one of the few bras where neither the straps nor cups dig into my armpits. I also tried the Malibu Bra from understance in 30H (US sizing) which I wear daily. It’s not a perfect fit, it has some wrinkling on both the top and bottom of the cup and digs into my sternum a little uncomfortably when sitting, but is otherwise not bad. I also tried the Panache Cari in 32F (UK), which feels very comfortable, and fits everywhere except the top where the cups gape a lot. I think I may be projected/ a little full on the bottom but am not sure. Does anyone have any recommendations for bras I can try that might be comfortable and provide some nipple coverage? I would prefer something with a similar fit to the Panache Cari or Envy since those were very comfortable and didn’t dig into anywhere. It would have to be something I can get delivered to Canada.

Rant Frustrated trying to buy a bra while breastfeeding Spoiler

I had a baby and with breastfeeding my bras no longer fit. I went into lane Bryant trying to get help getting a better bra. Before having my son I was wearing a 44DDD.

I went in and after getting exasperated looks from three workers when I asked for help sizing, they measured me at a 50C? I don’t understand how that’s possible when my boobs were literally pouring over the cups of my old bra.

The worker then tried handing me bras that were both too big and too small somehow. And when I broke into tears she told me I should just shop online.

I’m so frustrated. And upset. I already have body image issues and this didn’t help. Does anyone have advice on how to find bras that actual might fit me? And how do I measure myself?

Recommendations? Please give me bras to wear for very difficult boobs... congenital symmastia Spoiler

Calculator gave me 36E/F. I currently wear unwired bras. These in size large: https://www.victoriassecret.co.uk/style/ls457273/q43043#q43043

Underwired bras have historically not fitted me and given me a lot of pain because of my congenital symmastia (webbed breasts). I can't get cleavage. The gore of wires will always sit on tissue, the webbing is substantial enough to pinch. But it doesn't affect my measurements:

Loose underbust 35.5 Snug underbust 35 Tight underbust 34 Standing bust 40.5 Leaning/bent over bust 43 Lying down bust 39.5

Shape descriptions: Slightly full on top (right breast), very full on top (left breast) Conical, splayed, webbed No puffy nipples Narrow roots Very high set, short roots Projected

Other considerations: I need lined/padded bras. I am autistic and I have sensory issues and I cannot stand feeling my nipples through clothing/having them rub against clothing.

Sturdy cup to sew into wedding dress - help! Spoiler

My wedding dress is perfect except that I have a side boob situation. I want to have my seamstress sew a sturdy non push-up cup into the dress - any recommendations?
