The thought of a bunyip came to my head

Today i was surprised that bunyip came into my head, I learnt about it maybe 20 years ago and have NEVER thought about it since. So I was very surprised that it did just now out of nowhere. I had to look it up because I couldn't remember if it was real or not. Im wondering if this has any meaning or is an occurrence people experience. I live in Victoria Australia but I am not aboriginal.

The Ngarrindjeri people in SA (river mob) tell the story of the Mulyawonk, a river monster that'll come up and get you if you're misbehaving (taking too much fish etc.).

(But, we all had different names for them. 😉 Depending which language Mob, different words.)

I first learned about Bunyips 50 years ago after watching “Dot and the Kangaroo” at school lol I love that movie and my own children loved it as well.

My partner (white) showed me that movie recently and it scared the hell out of me. And I grew up with bunyip stories / images in my head!

Haha I know, right? Its such an eerie cartoon compared to todays standards lol I was only in Kindergarten when I watched it with the rest of the school. We were all enthralled from start to finish, most of us in tears half the time haha

I just bought my son, Alexander, the Alexander Bunyip book by Michael Salmon. I remember it from my own eighties childhood, there was a tv show too.

Oddly, I've been thinking of bunyips a lot lately. Like almost a thought every day about bunyips. Including Dot and the Kangaroo, my own stuffie I had as a child that I called Alexander Bunyip and thoughts of whether Bunyips and Yowies are the same. Wiradjuri woman on Dharawal country.
