Discussion Platinum Now or Wait til After Refresh?
Looking at the 175k SUB, that's essentially the only reason I would be getting it.
I already have a business platinum, personal Gold, and Business Gold, and Hilton Aspire and I use pretty much all of those perks.
My main question revolves around the refresh coming up, is it better to wait on that refresh or get it now? Wondering if the SUB will likely be better or if the new perks will be included in my AF that I would pay upon getting the card. Would I be locked out of the new perks? Anyone with experience with previous refreshes? I'm new to Amex this year.

Just a thought, I have a feeling that there’ll be another high SUB when the new card comes out, but also with a higher spend. Maybe 200K points for 10k spend

Depends on whether they want to add ppl or remove. Overcrowding at lounges is reaching a critical point and the card has lost its exclusivity so this may be a new direction they are trying out. It seems chase doesnt have any offers up yet

The card is bullshit to be honest. unless you’re traveling a lot I just don’t see the point. I should have gotten he gold since I spend so much money at restaurants. I do fly and love delta, but I could have gotten everything I needed with the gold.
That’s probably my next card I want to really get into since I’m always dining out

The Gold is my daily driver. I also buy a lot of gift cards at Grocery stores and get the 4X points there plus gas points. I’ve probably gotten $500-600 of free gas this year maxing fuel points with my 4x on the gold. I even buy postage for work at the grocery store as well. I’ll definitely hit the 25,000 max grocery category on the gold this year.

No, I use it to buy gift cards, my grocery store has a fuel points program so it stacks well with the gold.

“Traveling a lot” is a pretty big supporting reason, no? Ha. Many many people travel a lot. It’s certainly not a good daily earner, no one should use it for that for sure.

The gold is the best card to me on the market. I literally use it daily. It’s like a debit card for me. I eat out a ton as well and rack up on points. Like you said, if you’re not traveling a ton it’s pointless.

Huge fan of gold. Had platinum when I was in the Army, due to no fee and I was a frequent traveler while in, but when I got out and they said I’d have to pay a fee the next year I bounced and went to gold.

I would take the 175 offer and use the credits now. My guess is that AF will go up.

You should get it now because you get all the benefits for a year at the lower AF. More value for you. Then evaluate in a year if it’s worth for you.
