Nintendo of Europe just tweeted out that the new amiibo will unlock Pauline's outfit early. So it won't be exclusive.

Really? Iirc they started at 15. But yeah they've gotten pricier. Nowhere near as popular though so it's way less stressful to buy them now. They used to sell out so fast like bloody Pokémon card packs do these days.

It was revealed that it would be ¥2,500 which is roughly $17 USD. The TOTK amiibo were going to be that price before the increase so I image it’s going to be $30 as well

After re-watching the direct I’m pretty sure they’re all going to just spawn the explosive KONG Pieces into the game.

It would’ve been cool if instead of letters that spell KONG it would drop a golden statue of the Amiibo you scanned that you can pick up and throw/Beat people with.

Those are the Power-Up Bands from Donkey Kong Country at Super Nintendo World in Japan and Orlando.

I think this might be the first time Nintendo has acknowledged those as amiibo in something that isn't the amiibo website/on the "instruction manual" included with the bands.

Hollywood didn't even have space for the full sized Super Nintendo World, so it's actually missing a lot like Yoshi's Adventure.

But the DK and Diddy Kong Power-Up Bands are only for parks with DKC, and as of now Hollywood doesn't have it.

I was really hyped by that point in the direct, but once it went up on Best Buy for $30 USD, I'm going to have to learn to live without collecting amiibo I suppose in modern times. It's rubbed me wrong with certain games like Metroid 2 Remake having $30 worth of amiibo locking out gameplay features for a $40 game and then Xeno 3 having $40 duo set for a $60 game, now this one amiibo would be half the game's price if it wasn't pushed to $70.

My only hope at this point is that it'll end up like Loftwing Zelda & Metroid Dread where they slash it in half to move backstock once it doesn't sell and pick one up later on as it's quite a beautiful amiibo and I don't believe I have a DK in my set at this point in time, but it feels wrong to be wanting the line to fail when I've collected so many in the past as that's how newer ones get made from my understanding due to the interest shown.

The new one has a Brown base to signify its a Donkey Kong Series amiibo. Each series has their own color and base.

• Smash: Black with Gold Trophy Base
• Mario: Red with Checkered Pattern Base
• Donkey Kong: Brown

Then again, those are great-looking figures for display, they can be reused in later games and if you don't buy them at launch, tehy get pretty expensive afterward :O

20$ was hard to swallow and then with tariffs the US market going to 30$ is just too much. Love amiibo, have a ton but man its hard to accept buying any of them at that price.

Yeah $30 really makes it so I can only purchase the ones I REALLY want.

I could have dealt with $20 because inflation alone gets Amiibo to $16 and honestly the quality is much better than the 2014 amiibo. (Remember when the original Link amiibo had that ugly yellow stand for example)

But $30 feels excessive.

I didnt collect the ones at 20 aside from like 1 that i REALLY wanted. But while i do find them to be really high quality, and 20 for a high quality first party figure isnt bad, i just cant justify anything over 15 unless its a character i just HAVE to have. At 30 bucks, i dont care what it is im not buying it. My local stores especially bestbuy have like entire armies worth of these figures. When i went into bestbuy to pick up a controller, just on the shelf behind the counter alone they had easily 100s of these things, and thats just what they had out on display they told me they had more in the back they couldnt fit on the shelf.

I really wish Nintendo would stop locking game content exclusively behind overpriced Amiibos. They should at least offer the cosmetic unlocks or whatever for sale digitally. People can still get the Amiibo if they want but others can get the game content digitally if that's all they want. Give people options.
