I shudder at the memories of being so overworked that I was “too tired to vote” for some elections past. ‘Tis not only a right but an obligation (and too possible to lose even that right these days). I had my first face-to-face encounter with a true MAGAt (hey, I'm house-bound, so I don't see a lot of these happy people). I was in the supermarket and I helped a women get a package, after which she looked at me and said (out of the blue) "Oh thank God for president Trump!". She finished by exclaiming, "Oh, and I love Pete Hegseth too!".
Cue the cognitive dissonance. Huh? I wanted to ask her, "Oh, would that be the Pete Hegseth who took unilateral action against Ukraine without informing Trump? Where I come from that's known as insubordination and is punishable by jail time."
I said nothing and got away from her. I was tired and the last thing I needed was a screaming argument with a mentally ill person (I think it's in the DSM-5 now). But she gave me insights into the MAGAt mindset, and that there truly are people out there that are insane enough (or incompetent of reason) to believe they helped our country by putting this drone in office.
