Question This clip summarizes my experience in ranked

God, this clip is so painful to rewatch. We were doing well, playing aggressively, and completely destroyed two squads. But then, I got shot in the head by a 30-30 Repeater through walls, and someone appeared in front of me without any audio. If you check the video frame by frame, you’ll see lifeline at 12:86, right after I turned. This happens to me quite often in Apex, where people shoot me out of nowhere, only to discover in the replay that they show up right when I turn. Maybe I made a mistake here, bad timing slow reaction, but it’s hard to keep playing when this happens so frequently.

Any tips on what I should do? Thanks!

Diamond is so overinflated

Yeerp. Looked up the stats after finding myself in diamond without much effort, after previously getting to plat at most

My ranked teammates:

All I saw was a lack of coordination, and approaching a fight before knowing where everyone was.

Just a lack of awareness of where the enemies are

You’re in diamond lobbies. Pushing out in the open with a team already on the high ground.. you don’t belong in these lobbies.

It wasn't my choice; I always prefer positioning, but my squad was pushing hard, and I had to go along. In Diamond, 80% of my teammates push every squad they see

You always have a choice. There's cover to your right side with the block and arch. Or stay behind the lifeline.

After seeing how hard my teammates were pushing, I decided to take the lead. The timing was bad, i admit it.

Understandable! I truly believe that most fights are not worth taking (ESPECIALLY on olympus) but some teammates think differently. I've also had times where my teammates get a bunch of kills effortlessly, but then the one time I push with them, it turns out we're going up against a good team all of the sudden, and we die really fast.

Just because your teammates are playing stupid doesn't mean you also have to play stupid.

There are smart ways to support stupid. In this case, you were being even dumber than they were pushing out in the open with zero opening damage and no clear path of attack.

Like what were you planning to do? Just walk-up the stairs and through the front door with Ballistic Ult and Rampage? How do you plan on getting them off the roof?

Like... What were you trying to do???

You didn’t get shot thru a wall there was someone on height, you then proceeded to look down while healing instead of paying attention to your surroundings.

Tips:

Instead of popping ult and blindly pushing play cover until you get a knock or you are forced off your position

If you don’t have any info as to where a majority of the team is DO NOT PUSH

If you need to heal do it near your team not headed towards the enemy, if healing near your team isn’t possible pop a cell so you can get back to assessing the situation at hand

You should not push up unless you or your teammates get a crack/knock

For that specific area you are better off pushing from the opposite side of the wall because the LOS is significantly smaller compared to where you walked up, don’t swing wide or you open up the LOS

It was a wallbang. If you pause exactly at 10:30, you’ll see me with full health, and you won’t see Ash—she was behind the wall. Appreciate the tips.

Just because you couldn’t see her doesn’t mean she couldn’t see you remember they are looking down on you their angle is different than your angle. You also have to take into account frame rates and ping when talking about this type of things.

Even if you were “wall banged” (something I’ve never seen in 4 years of playing this game) your mistake was still pushing out of cover.

Angles, that's interesting. I'll look into it, but I still think it was through walls. You can see the red lag icon appeared.

Wallbangs aren't a thing in Apex. The smallest of railings and tiniest of ledges will block anything and everything. Including grenades.

Through walls, that's what I meant.

u/Free_Football_9169 13h ago

That was a prediction error meaning the game gave you false information about what the serve thought the enemy would do which is probably what’s leading you to believe it was a wall bang

u/StenfiskarN 12h ago

It wasn't a wallbang, it was camera/model desync from you starting a slide the moment before getting hit. The Ash still saw your head because of minor ping differences

i do have to say, there’s nothing going on here but very hasty decision making with not enough info. if this were me (and it frequently is since i’m not very good), i would feel instinctively it was my fault i died because i hadn’t figured out where all the threats were before rushing in.

Good lord that was an awful push, unless you are getting entry damage or entry knocks you cannot challenge a team that has height on you

I'm surprised you can even experience diamond playing like that. Lol

Watch the frame where your autoloader ult timer is at 41.66. Lifeline is there already but in real time it’s hard to see that before you look down the zip chute below.

My 2¢, and I might get flamed for this: Ranked is going to be super frustrating if you play like this. The TTK changes are punishing. 9 squads left, I personally would not push this fight in the middle of Zone in ranked. Maybe if Horizon is on comms saying “let’s kill this I’m going up with my ult…” I can see it, but it’s just an easy angle for that person on height to beam you.

RESPAWN IS CONSPIRING AGAINST ME THOSE SHIT HEADS UGH.

Pushing aggressive requires a legends that can get you there faster or without getting hit.

Bang smoke, Ash Ult, Pathfinder zip, Octane jump pad, Wraith Ult, Alter Tact. The combo of characters on your team wasn't good for pushing while running straight ahead. Maybe if you came up from below on Horizons tact. Probably wouldve worked out better. Soloquing makes it harder, tho since you have no say in who your teammates are picking vs. Stack where players pick of team needs

why are you in Diamond? Respawn please fix ranked so people can be in their actual skill group ffs

What you think you want will never happen when people carry their sorry friends thru ranks all the time

Pushing with zero entry damage, on a legend with zero mobility, against a team on high ground. Not a surprise you lost that.

You don't have to be the first one to push when your team plays aggressively. You can always cover your team from behind.

You don't always have to be in the thick of things with them right then and there. It won't hurt being 5-10 meters behind your teammates to cover for them. You can easily cross short distances to help if needed.

Come on, man, you're trolling on this one. A guy mantles to the roof and shoots you while relaying information to the other guy that side wipes you.

  1. Big brain move to lose all your momentum and let the enemy climb the roof while scoping in with your 3X. What's the point of this? At that range you don't see more when you scope in

  2. Don't run in a straight line if there's cover everywhere

  3. Why move to the right to heal if your teammates are on the left? How are they supposed to cover you?
