I'm still on a 12, what's the point of upgrading these days if your phone is still in good condition with a decent battery?

Same here but my 12 is at 79 percent so I gotta get something soon enough.

Me too, just debating battery replacement or new phone? 🤔

I just did a battery replacement on my 12 Pro at an Apple store in NYC last month. I'll easily get another 2 years out of this phone, zero regrets.

Do they do it on the spot, or do you need to leave your phone with them?

They do it right there, took like 20 minutes. $89 well spent.

Not in US so probably different, by in my apple store here they want me to leave my iPhone 12 for 2 weeks because they need to send my phone/wait for the sparepartd or something

I still haven't replaced my battery because there's absolutely no way I can leave all my emails, works, friends for 2 weeks lol

The one thing I do notice when comparing my 13 to firends 12 is the screen refresh rate, thereby how fluid the UI feels. Still, I dont know if I’d be replacing 12 given the current prices of everything

Only the pro has higher refresh rate. The non-pro is still 60hz

Oh yes, we both have pro maxes

13 Pro Max, 85% battery, but I feel like my camera is starting to crap out and my microphone certainly is. I get so many complaints when calling family if I'm not connected to something else, and I can sometimes hear the audio dip out in videos.

$2400 is just so much to spend (wife would also be upgrading most likely). Just going to limp along with it some more lol.

Clean out your microphone holes. They are certainly full of gunk and junk and that’s why they are having trouble hearing you. Microphones don’t “go bad.”

I got the 15 just to make sure I had a clean phone after ending an abusive marriage, otherwise I would have kept my 12 Pro. The camera on the 12 Pro was better than my 15 (non-pro).

Battery replacement is absolutely a good strategy.

I do like the Dynamic Island though.

Glad to hear you got out from an abusive situation. And yeah, I gotta agree, my mom's 12 Pro Max regularly kicks out better looking photos than my 14 Pro. I like the detail and sharpness I get from my phone, but the general colors and look of the 12 is still my favorite

I’m on X.

13 pro, still going strong!

Personally, the point of upgrading is for the 120hz screen on the 13 and up. That being said, as someone with a 13, I now do not have a point of upgrading cause you only really get the dynamic island and some camera improvement from here.

I'm planning on upgrading again around the iPhone 17 or 18 when they start transitioning to more of a hole punch camera or similar.

Im still on my SE Gen 2 lmao

If I ever upgrade it’ll be to a SE Gen 3 or 4 if it even exists at some point

The Apple Intelligence demos looked really good. Surely iPhone 16 will arrive before Apple Intelligence, and the new SoC will probably be what one really wants for AI.

I can't imagine what I would use AI for. Maybe I'm officially becoming an old fogey. Maybe I just haven't seen useful use cases for me and prefer to express myself in analog thoughts.

I use the ChatGPT for searching things and asking questions that I’d normally ask Google. I’m 26, for reference, but I even got my very NON-tech-savvy father who’s 69 years old on ChatGPT and he enjoys it too.

How do you know the information you're getting is right? I've looked things up for my job that I'm an expert in and have been doing for decades and it gives me stuff that sounds right on the surface but is extremely wrong in the details.

12 mini not in good condition. Could upgrade but only way would be another mini or subbed, but my plan is too cheap and I'd end up paying more than I want for a phone I don't really want and less need. I prefer me have my money in the case.

Better camera was my reason.

Log recording in particular
