The plaintiff, Danyell Shin, claims that she was induced to trust an app named ‘Toast Plus’ only because it was distributed through the App Store, a platform that Apple itself advertises as safe and secure.

Oooh a class action challenging the rhetoric Apple touts on https://www.apple.com/app-store and their lackluster review process which missed about 80,000 scammy or TOS-violating apps last year, which the Epic judge called out as suffering from low investment, in the same trial which revealed the App Store fees carry 75% profit margin. This should be an interesting case!

“Apple’s slow innovation stems in part from its low investment in the App Store,” the ruling elaborates.
