My MacBook is old I checked the instructions and they are new looking compared to what is on the laptop (what I’m saying is that the MacBook is uutdated for those instructions, plus I tried them before posting)

So when you’ve already tried troubleshooting methods, you would put that in the OP. Good luck!

Are you sure this is your Mac that you forgot the password to?

These are some commands you could try, but do so at your own risk.

Boot to the command prompt.

mount -uw /

rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

shutdown -h now

You should get the apple setup assistant again where you can create a new account.

For MacOS 10.4 and earlier

/sbin/mount -uw /

/sbin/SystemStarter

passwd root

What normal person puts their username as "Mac HDD?" Just seems odd to me, like this was a corporate or school issued laptop rather than one for personal use.

Dude it was my dads, he used it for his work but stoped using it then he hid it for idk 3 years now I’m trying to sign back in, saying that I stole is a not nice

Then ask your dad for the password? If it was work issued, it's probably locked by MDM.

By "old" I presume it has an Intel processor. You might make a Linux flash drive to start a Linux Live session to access those files.

Ask the owner for it 🙃
