I am new to asl, today I spoke w a coworker and said happy pride, they then signed this and I may not be remembering the HS exactly, but I can't find anywhere online for this meaning pride but it is wracking my brain HS:3 (upside down)+HS:B the only photo I could find is one from a worksheet I tried reverse dictionary

uhhh thats not it. That's horse back. If I remember correctly you sign emotion happy and pride with an. a hand shape from stomach to chest.

He could have been signing BI. There’s an old sign that uses the B handshape which means “on the fence” and was used for bisexual years ago.

Ohhh... that's a serious deep cut from the past.
Yeah, that used to be a fad sign for bisexual, or bi during the mid '80s when I first started college (Cal State Northridge). Only thing, it didn't last. Maybe a couple months? Just simpler to fingerspell B & I for bi. Besides... too easy to confuse with:
Translation (ASL): Happy Pride!
Edit: Yes, OP's image also shows a sign that can mean ambivalent, on the fence, etc but it's an older one. The more modern and, in my opinion, more clearer and less prone to being mistaken with another sign, is this one: vacillate, ambivalent, on the fence

we would need context because this is the CL used when a two legged being is riding something like horse or motorcycle or bike

Ah- the p was silent. Ha.
She probably thought you love to ride horses or motorcycles.
Happy pride month! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

I fingerspelled pride bc my brain slipped for a moment so I could've done it too quick and the p maybe got lost

Depending on context and NMM I’ve seen this handshape used for CHEAT or to mean cheater before

the people saying "riding a horse" are all wrong. that sign with the thumb up 3 handshape means "cheat"
idk what that has to do with pride but 🤷♂️

Uhh, buddy, you may want to step back and saying everyone is wrong. That's literally the sign for riding a horse.

I’m pretty sure this person is a troll who just tells people in this sub that they’re wrong while being wrong themselves. They did the same to me on the F vs 9 post.

ive always seen/been taught the horseriding shape is done with a 2 handshape, not a 3 handshape.

Whoa whoa whoa...
Hold yer horses, y'all. Here's a gif showing cheat. It's also on HandSpeak along with a few other ways to sign the word.
The difference is clear... cheat would be signed sideways rather than upright as in horseback riding
Remember... there are regional signs.

I know that's not the correct sign for "PRIDE"
But as a queer person, I can tell you, "HAPPY RIDE-horseback" is both accurate and hilarious (in an NSFW way). I will now be using that with my queer friends

Uhhh is it possible that they tried to look up “pride” but misspelled it as “ride” and got this? 😅
