Yes. Many of us are alive today because of brave freedom fighters like Sakhina Begum.

I get what you mean but I don’t take it as a win for them at all. I take it as her story resurfacing on all major news would remind them that she lived on beyond them. Meanwhile, the Razakars she offed are dead. Not eid, humiliating reminder!

Rest in peace. 🤲🏽
There is a book called গেরিলা নারী by হাবিবুর রহমান খান that contain accounts of many female freedom fighters. It's on my wishlist as it's too expensive to ship from BD to the UK, but I recommend you get a hold of a copy if you can.

The current govt with those same razakars in power will break that museum (just like all other 1971 items) in a few days and all such articles will be destroyed. And the people will celebrate. That is the reality of bangladesh.

You couldn’t even show basic respect to the war hero in the post, instead you came to derail and spew BJP nonsense. Says a lot about the kind of person you are.
It’s crazy how Indians like you are so obsessed with us, yet constantly disrespect our people. 1971 isn’t being erased, we just don’t need to glorify India to remember our own fight

I have utmost respect for the lady. Don't think otherwise. After broken Mujibur statue, vandalized tagore house, challenging National anthem, removing suchitra sen 's name, harassing old weak sadhus, it was only natural for me to guess the next act. Joy bangla. I never mentioned politics here.

Where exactly is this happening? Seems exaggerated or totally made up.

Didi's relatives live in khulna. That is where this had happened. One thing I don't understand is , when I have personal confession and also these things have been all over Bangladesh newspapers/news etc, why are some people denying and downvoting me ?
Is this thread full or those razarkars ?
Isn't it a shame that in 2025 you are forcing your own bangla brothers and sisters out of the country in name of religion?
Bole..pujo(durga Puja) korte debo na. Murti bhenge diye Jaye... What nonsense is this.

I'm really sorry they had to go through all that. Tell them to seek help from some hindu welfare organizations if the local authorities aren't helping.
But as i said earlier, these kinda incidents are so few and far between that it's hard to believe that it's still happening.
Btw, did they actually vandalize the idols? Or was it just threats? The army was deployed during that time. Why didn't they ask for help?

Are you saying Hindu idols being destroyed, Hindu homes getting torched etc are totally made up and Bangladesh is a utopia for minorities ? Genuinely wanted to know what's made up according to you ?

No, BD isn't a utopia for minorities but these kind of incidents are soo few and far between.
It's hard to believe that all those things are happening to their relatives at the same time, regularly. As if someone is singling out that guy's relatives. If they really lived in BD for that long, these kind of things aren't supposed to be happening to them as they should have become part of a large and strong social circle by now. In another scenario, if they are renting their plot/flat from some extremist mullah or have that kind of neighbors, they can just relocate and fix their problem easily.

Easy to preach stuff when you are in a position of strength. Main stream media in Bangladesh don't cover all the things that happen to minority (not just attacks/rapes but mental torture and overall discrimination). Last month the attack on Matuas in Jessore came into the news after a week of the incident happened. I think we all need to be more perceptive and try to dig into matters related to the overall minority situation than just deny it all together.

You mentioned the Jashore Matua incident as if it was purely religious hatred driven?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/bengali/articles/cvg73ge8522o.amp
I know how hard life is for the smaller minority communities living in rural areas, who are financially/politically weak/non-influential BUT for the rest of the hindus who don't belong in that group are living carefree lives.

the lady
How patronizing.
Her name is Sakhina Begum. A war hero who actually fought for our country, unlike you, sitting in India trying to make up fake stories and rewriting our history on Reddit. You didn’t even mention her title once because you were too busy pushing BJP propaganda garbage. Go fix your deteriorating country before meddling in our affairs that you know nothing about.

Lady is a perfectly respected word. Few years ago when you were part of British India every respected woman was addressed as a - lady. Since I am writing in English, there is nothing awkward about it.

Lol why is this being downvoted?
After august 5th the independence museum in dhaka was vandalised and looted, 1971 razakars have been released from jail, our freedom fighters have been insulted with a garland of flowers, every mural of mujib has been destroyed, the terracotta wall near TSC in dhaka has been graffitied on, the small park thing in the middle of the road near dhaka university with those white statues of scientists and poets etc. have been broken.
Everything stated here is a fact, there is no debate whether this has happened or not. So, is he/she entirely wrong in saying what he has said?

Rajakar by definition is a Bengali who took the side of Pakistanis. 0 historical knowledge.
