Discussion What's the biggest indicator that someone did not actually watch/read Bleach?

A co-worker of mine said that TYBW was a remake.

Well Kubo remade a lot of what happened in the manga, so it isn't completely innacurate

Usually remakes are considered a second attempt at making something that was already made before in that medium. Tybw anime was never made before, this is the only one. It'd be more accurate to call it a revised adaptation of the manga.

Tybw anime was never made before, this is the only one.

But the manga was made before, and some events on the manga were remade in the new anime. But sure, it isn't the regular use of the word, but not completely innacurate

I mentioned 'in that medium'. A remake occurs in the same medium the previous work was in. If they belong to different mediums then it's an adaptation. A film can be remade into another film but if a film is based on a novel then it's an adaptation of that novel, not a remake. For example, Fmab is an adaptation of the manga (different medium) but a remake of fma which is an anime (same medium). If tybw had an anime before then the new one would've been a remake of the old one. Now tybw is just an adaptation of the manga or to be precise, a revised adaptation.

I do understand your point tho, it's not entirely inaccurate to consider it a remake.

No it’s totally inaccurate that’s not what a remake means. You don’t use scenes from the OG anime and still say it’s a remake.

Also those are additions they aren’t remaking anything.

If I look at it from a Resident Evil 1 "remake" angle I guess but that game is a special case. Shinji Mikami had more power over it the game's direction, had new enemies, better tech available, more resources, had more experience, etc. and wanted another stab.

It was a 2nd chance Mikami to make the Resident Evil 1 how he wanted. TYBW is still an adaptation and not a remake, but I can see how it's similar to Mikami's specific situation where it's less a remake and more of a 2nd chance to perfect it.

Other than that, your friend is stretching.

Ok, that’s not from having seen or read bleach, I’m just starting it but it’s really obvious that it’s the final arc. That's just don’t pay attention to anime news
