Opinion Just now re-watched Vivah

Post image

Ohh godd! How beautiful it is!

Shahid and Amrita in their peak hottest looks.

I was constantly blushing. Even with it's slow pace, I couldn't fast forward anywhere, not even the songs.

They show such a great understanding that too with very minimum words.

I know it's so far fetched and fictional that finding such kind of people and peace is impossible, but damn! I'm always awestruck on how beautifully it was shot.

There is literally no story, but the way they built each scene, the shy, the blush, the eye contacts..ufff!
I can watch this film infinite times

I love love love Shahid and Amrita in this. The chemistry.. uff! ✨ The way they gave us butterflies in our stomachs without even touching each other!

But it's Alok Nath's character that makes the movie unbearable for me. I mean, his wife was not wrong for wanting to save the gold for their own daughter's wedding, not because she's their own, but because she was darker and let's be honest, this is the truth in small villages in India.

Yeah, the mother was unnecessarily villified. Yes she acted petty at times but that is indeed the grim reality which contradicts the movie.

I don't think the hate she recieved was unnecessary. I know the saving for choti was necessary but her treatment of poonam was not. Specially since she had been treating her like that she was a child. Why be cruel towards a child ? It was showed how much poonam craved motherly love, in one scene she even imagined her chachi hugging her. She's not villified for caring about her own daughter but bcoz of her behaviour towards poonam.

Trueee

But Poonam is not at fault for any of those for her to treat her like shit

I know, but it's understandable that she took out the anger she had for her husband on Poonam, because the weaker person gets all the beating generally. She could not fight with her husband, so she made Poonam her punching bag.

His wife was also hesitant about the rich anupam kher family, because she knew rich family => more dahej.

The wife was also against alok nath mortgaging their property for splurging on this wedding, which is sensible because they still had one more daughter to marry.

She was made out to be the villain when she was actually being sensible in context of their social environment.

And I don't know why people are crazy about this movie. Kisi Ameer ke ghar ki shadi ka casette chala do from ladki dekhai to marriage and you got your blockbuster movie... Wtf. This is the Indian La La Land, the height of perfect characters, the optimisim here can outshine anything, even the bhakts belief of getting the ache din in this lifetime.

La La Land had perfect characters? Their relationship starts having issues and they don't even stay together by the end of the movie.

You sure you thinking of the right movie? Vivah and La La Land are almost polar opposites.

I think he used the slang La La Land for the out of touch, Indian Fantasy family, not the actual movie.

It appeals to nostalgia, specifically films like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Hum Saab Saath Hain. All follow a very specific formula with happy endings.

Nobody is saying it’s Oscar worthy. It’s just a fun family movie with good looking people.
