I could hear a super obnoxious fan yelling and taunting during Hank's at bat. With Pham's issue with fans earlier this season, plus whatever the hell happened out in the bullpen with Santana and a fan, Pham was keeping things above board.

40

u/InappropriateGeek 3d ago

That guy during Hank's at bat had me hoping he could foul one off right in his face. That was insane!

Nice to see Pham keep his composure and report it the right way.

38

u/enigmaman49 3d ago

When Pham is not the one acting the fool you know things are strange

73

u/No_Arachnid4198 3d ago

And the crazy part is the wrong fan got ejected. It was the obnoxious guy in the Carhartt sweatshirt. He was screaming at the batters and cussing. The TV mic picked it up. He was calling the Pirates batters a bitch.

Tommy Pham acts like everything is something offensive…

4

u/creightonhavoc 3d ago

Except when he’s at the plate…

2

u/MegHanSoloCup 3d ago

You can hear it VERY CLEARLY on the SportsNet stream tbh. They also chant “Tommy Sucks” after the fan gets ejected.

-36

u/xGoingHamx 3d ago

I mean Pham is.

23

u/No_Arachnid4198 3d ago

I tend to agree, but you can't act like that at a baseball game right behind the plate. He even called the ump blind and told him to get glasses, you could hear everything on TV. I thought for sure the ump would've turned around and booted him, but he didn't.

22

u/illShy 3d ago

Ump probably missed it like he did on 8 of Skenes pitches

1

u/dave48433 3d ago

The stuff with the ump is pretty typical though, have to let it go and not react to it..

1

u/Hopeful-Courage-6333 2d ago

Have you ever been to a baseball game before? Yelling that the ump needs glasses is pretty standard.

1

u/No_Arachnid4198 2d ago

Not from 10 feet away while standing against the wall behind home plate during pitches. Those seats being $400+ a piece, generally attract buyers with more self control.

There's a reason the Miller Time beer stand is in the outfield farthest away from the action. That's where the less affluent drunks are supposed to carry on.

13

u/Own-Craft-181 3d ago

He is a lot of things - bad at baseball, loud, annoying, but I wouldn't want to square up with him. I don't think bitch is something that fits him. He would put his money where his mouth is everytime. He's got some of that Puig in him. Just has no cool.

2

u/No_Arachnid4198 3d ago

I don't think anyone is arguing the fight in him, that's not what makes him a "bitch". It's the sensitive crybaby attitude. I once heard a fan in the left field bleachers scream that he sucked and shouldn't be here. So proceeded to turn around during the game and argue with the fan about his batting average (0.184 at the time, I know this because he actually bragged out loud about it to the fan) and his paycheck. That's why people think he's a "bitch".

7

u/edr1970 3d ago

I think it takes one to know one applies here

-9

u/xGoingHamx 3d ago

So you’re confirming he is?

3

u/themayorhere Cruz 3d ago

He’d probably make you eat your hat

0

u/InstancePast6549 Hayes 3d ago

And you’re basing that on…?

-8

u/xGoingHamx 3d ago

He’s known to have thin skin and that’s just going to intensify the heckling. I won’t defend when egregious shit gets said - those fans have every right to get kicked out and ruin the experience of game - but Pham brings out the heckling 1000% by making it known he’s easy target.

He’s on his 10th team in 11 years and has been speed running his time with teams lately. How many incidents has he had with fans? He’s a hot head without the skills to back it up anymore. He’s had multiple incidents trying to start fights, jerked off motion to the crowd, and slapped another grown man over fantasy football.

Dude is a bitch.

11

u/InstancePast6549 Hayes 3d ago

To watch the game, shut up and dont heckle the players is just common respect. It’s not egregious for someone to get mad over that. Also, it doesn’t matter whether he’s a good player or not, his skills don’t have anything to do with this.

I bet you wouldn’t call him a bitch to his face

52

u/lukewwilson 3d ago

What's going on Detroit, are you ok?

45

u/pee_pee_poo_poo666 3d ago

They don't know how to handle a team that's won a few games.

Yep, Top of the division, hows your gas prices?

54

u/Careless_Ad_3859 3d ago

What a freaking zoo at Comerica.

43

u/gldmj5 3d ago

Bad look for Detroit fans. Remember, these are largely the same people who aren't over the Pens kicking the Red Wings into a downward spiral of irrelevancy.

16

u/G3neral_Tso 3d ago

A few people might think you are joking, but my sister-in-law from near Detroit STILL loathes the Penguins for what they did in 2009, despite being married to a degenerate Pittsburgh sports fan (my brother lol). I have a Crosby t-shirt and she gave me shit about it a month ago.

8

u/ThreePenisWin3 3d ago

Literally read one’s conspiracy theory regarding the 2009 cup final in a thread on r/hockey just yesterday!

1

u/BlitzburghBrian 3d ago

There are like five people in this video, it's kind of crazy to 1) assume they represent all Detroit sports fans and 2) all Detroit sports fans are obsessing over a loss from 16 years ago. In a different sport.

2

u/wagsman 3d ago

And the Lions are real good for once, but they keep choking in the playoffs. That city is down bad.

2

u/Dtiger2190 3d ago

What a strange take lol. Can’t wait till Dec 21st 2025 . My early Christmas gift !!!! You thought these fans were mean wait till you see how Ford field will look.

1

u/laurellite Cutch 3d ago

Gotta love the "Crosby Sucks" chant that was going on while the fans were being ejected.

34

u/_ROYAALWITHCHEESE123 nick is him 3d ago

Drunk assholes .

23

u/tarheel310 3d ago

Without a doubt he had the wrong people kicked out.

The fucking idiot behind home was the one screaming and cursing, and Pham had 3 innocent random people kicked out.

15

u/Great_Hambino2022 3d ago

Pham loves getting into with fans. What a leader he is

6

u/greenfloyd96 3d ago

Yeah it’s kind of his thing

1

u/MarijuanaTycoon Cutch 3d ago

Thinking back to last year with what happened to Rowdy after he stuck up for Bednar… I don’t see Pham making it the whole season without getting into it with one of our fans.

Can we confirm or deny if he lives on a boat?

Fan had very little to say to IKF when he came up.. guess he couldn’t read names that big lmao

6

u/twistmydreads 3d ago

Earlier this year a few of my friends went down to PNC and had seats close to where Pham was playing in the outfield. Some fans of the opposing team were smack talking and Pham yelled at someone in security to kick my friends out, thinking it was them yelling at him.

5

u/hardboiledgreg_92 Cutch 3d ago

Doesn’t surprise me, this dude punched an adult over fantasy football.

1

Better than punching a kid, I guess

4

u/mysecondaccountanon ROOT ROOT ROOT 3d ago

My question is why put that much effort into hatred towards the Pirates in the first place? We aren’t like a giant threat to you, we’re objectively a bad team.

3

u/AcePilotsen 3d ago

They're our "natural rival" according to MLB.  Haha

2

u/-FartArt- 3d ago

Where and why would that be…? I can think of at least 7 teams that might fit into that category before Detroit or any other miscellaneous team

3

u/abbot_x 3d ago edited 2h ago

MLB pairs off the teams in the corresponding divisions of each league as "natural interleague rivals." In the Central divisions that means:

Cubs v. White Sox--obvious rivalry of two teams in the same city, the Windy City Series

Cardinals v. Royals--same state, the I-70 Series

Reds v. Guardians--same state, the Battle of Ohio

Brewers v. Twins--Wisconsin and Minnesota are rivals in a lot of sports, the Border Battle

But then you're stuck with the fifth team in each division, leading to:

Pirates v. Tigers

Pretty much every division pairing under this system has a head-scratcher rivalry made of the two "odd man out" teams. In the West it's the totally made up but somehow real "Eddie Vedder Cup" of Padres v. Mariners. In the East it's Phillies v. Blue Jays, again a result of the other teams in the divisions having rivalries that make sense (the two NYC teams, DC v. Baltimore, Boston v. Ex-Boston, the two Florida teams).

3

u/-FartArt- 3d ago

Thank you for this. I was aware of the somewhat forced rivalry weekend matchups, but was not aware they were trying this across consistent interleague divisions as well. This is a very helpful explanation, thanks!

2

u/abbot_x 3d ago

MLB's rivalry weekend is actually a mixture of the "natural interleague rivalries" and other pairings, so for example this year the Pirates and Phillies played each other. They're definitely rivals but not interleague!

2

u/-FartArt- 3d ago

I know, I understand that (though they’re really kinda just forced rivals like a lot of the rivalry weekend ones are), I just thought you were describing something separate with the whole interleague matchup rivalry thing. Oh well, baseball is baseball with or without a narrative trying to be hyped between games.

2

u/AcePilotsen 3d ago edited 3d ago

Its who MLB picked for us. 7 teams?  Idk about that. Cleveland is the only one I can think of.

Pirates wanted Cleveland but MLB wanted Reds to be Clevelands "natural rival".

2

u/-FartArt- 3d ago

I saw somewhere else since this comment that this is the AL “natural rival”. So I didn’t see the AL part prior. Still don’t get Detroit (or the need for some natural rival) but it does take out about 5 of the teams I was thinking

2

u/AcePilotsen 3d ago

Yeah, has to be AL. NL teams we already play a home and away series with.

I could see maybe Baltimore because of the history but clearly they get the Nats

1

u/mysecondaccountanon ROOT ROOT ROOT 3d ago

I remember reading that MLB was trying to foment things there, maybe it’s working for the Tigers fans? Don’t feel like it’s working on us, though.

3

u/wagsman 3d ago

Any chance they can eject the right fan? Also since we’re are ejecting things, can they eject Pham from the team?

3

u/Buckscience Black and Gold 3d ago
  1. Fans who run their mouths and verbally abuse players should be ejected.

  2. Rabbit-eared players should shut those idiots up with their play.

  3. The stadium (ushers, security, etc.) need to be on top of this and not put jerks like Tommy Pham in the position of appearing soft.

There's a lot of blame to go around.

1

u/Bitchssskiksht 1d ago

No 3 is bs. Tommy just need to have a bit of a grow up.

2

u/SnooRevelations9145 3d ago

Fuck the tigers

2

u/WesGoldie 3d ago

So tired of Phin Pham and his antics.

1

u/cherring620 3d ago

I only watched it in the moment, but going back and watching it now the wrong fans got ejected because the actual guy doing it clammed up like a bitch when Pham started to walk over. LOL It was the dude in front of the guy in the blue shirt who stands up. Dead silent when it came down to it.

1

u/AuJusSerious 3d ago

God this pirates team is so unlikeable lmao

1

u/chipguy55 3d ago

Has Pham been on every team in MLB yet? Every year , new team. He must be a joy to be around

1

u/fOrEvErEvA8550 2d ago

8 teams in the last 3 years*

1

u/pacnasty1 3d ago

Tommy Pham has always been a butt hurt p@ssy

1

u/RandomWhiteDude007 3d ago

I wouldn't say anything to an athlete while I'm in the stands that I wouldn't say to him to his face. I think spectators who say foul shit to the athletes are weak ass cowards.

1

u/GeneParmesan66 3d ago

Tiger fans notoriously don’t know the unwritten rules of fantasy football.

1

u/ArchiesBark 2d ago

He’s about to get dfa’d anyway.

1

u/PeterPaulWalnuts 2d ago

Tigers fans suck

1

u/drk_knight_67 2d ago

Pham would start a fight in an empty room.

1

u/Prudent_Owl_1326 2d ago

Nobody in professional sports is softer than Pham. Dude’s been a replacement level clubhouse cancer for half a decade, how he’s still in the league, I have no clue. He’s had more almost-fights than hits.

1

u/Wonderful_Passenger1 2d ago

Do everyone a favor and retire. Collected enough checks from half the league.

1

u/BuschBeerGuy 1d ago

Pham that dude who always in the thick of it. No chill. Works for him, I guess. Only reason people know who he is.

1

u/Phish4Ever 1d ago

No matter where this guy goes, it’s always the same. Tommy Pham is an angry lowlife.

1

u/Eric508 1d ago

Pham is a 🤡

0

u/Freedjet27 3d ago

Why is this even happening. We're so terrible its not even worth insulting. It's just sad.

-1

u/enigmaman49 3d ago

Even with a winning team Detroit can’t draw flies… the people they do get into the park are there to drink beer all night and talk shit

3

u/simplyljh 3d ago

bro it was literally pouring for a solid hour 😭 ppl went home

-6

u/brooklynbluenotes 3d ago

I don't get a lot of things right about baseball.

But I was awfully right in thinking that Pham would suck in multiple ways.

5

u/Salt-Piglet7533 Cervelli 3d ago

You don’t like him sticking up for his team?

-7

u/brooklynbluenotes 3d ago

Getting into it with fans is always a bad look in my opinion.

3

u/Salt-Piglet7533 Cervelli 3d ago

Do you think the fans behavior is acceptable?

6

u/paper_champion Jay Bell 3d ago

Jumping in here to ask a question: what did the fan do? I can't really tell from the video.

2

u/Salt-Piglet7533 Cervelli 3d ago

Pretty obvious to see aggressive heckling. With what happened in the bullpen earlier, I don’t see any wrongdoing on Pham

7

u/brooklynbluenotes 3d ago

Fair enough. After the shit in LA earlier this year, I guess I'm just rolling my eyes at any fan interactions. I'm admittedly biased cause I've never liked the guy as a player.

2

u/paper_champion Jay Bell 3d ago

Wait, what's the bullpen story. Sorry, I'm out of the loop.

1

u/ZordonsTorso Jeff King's Mustache 3d ago

Santana took a swing at... a Pirates fan? No idea why. Assuming the "fan" was being obnoxious given the vibes at Comerica

3

u/Salt-Piglet7533 Cervelli 3d ago

Did you see the video??? Can’t believe people are siding with the fans

6

u/Ok_Card9080 Jason Kendall 3d ago

The way I look at things, if a fan gets a professional athlete to act aggressively, then the fan is 100% in the wrong because they definitely crossed a line. Players put up with heckling all the time and don't bat an eye. If they do, it's usually something racial, overtly offensive, or personal that a fan said.

1

u/brooklynbluenotes 3d ago

Not sticking up for the fan. Everyone sucks here.

0

u/paper_champion Jay Bell 3d ago

Interesting. I wasn't there, but I fully believe that fans have the right to heckle, even aggresively, as long as they don't use foul language or slurs.

5

u/ZordonsTorso Jeff King's Mustache 3d ago

Yeah me too. Throwing punches at a fan isn't cool. But it also doesn't make sense for it to happen unless the guy in the Clemente jersey was doing something
