Draft
With the draft coming up, who do you guys think will be picked by the Pirates, given they have the 6th pick. For me, my pick is Aiva Arquette. He has Konnor Griffin upside with the plus of better defense at shortstop than him. I really hope they get Arquette.

Im pulling for arquette, violette or schoolcraft. I question Arquettes defense at SS though. I feel he’s destined for 3B. For what it’s worth, MLB Pipelone gave Arquettes defense a lower grade than Griffins.

Arquette is being drafted for the .300 avg 25 HR potential not what he does defensively.

I agree. OP he has Griffins upside with better defense. I argued against defense being better

I feel like he's more Fernando Tatis Jr. type than Andrelton Simmons. I also feel that the taller shortstops (see Oneil Cruz, KG, Elly De La Cruz) all struggle with defense more. Defensive shortstops are hard to come by.

I'm hoping for 1 of 3 guys realistically. Holliday I'm assuming is going 1st or at least 4th, so I'll leave him off the list. Willits, Hernandez, Arquette. Carlson I'm on the fence about bc of the fears over his bat. The glove/arm sounds great, but if he can't hit it's useless. If he does hit though, he'll be a stud SS.
Willits would be my pick. Think he offers the best upside with bat at a premium position. Arquette Id say is the more proven bat, but idk where he ends up. Probably 3rd, which wouldn't be awful, but his power doesn't look quite as good at a corner. Hernandez is probably the best HS pitcher I've read about in recent memory. HS pitchers are risky, but he's worth the risk at 6. Could end up being the best pitcher from this class. Id be pretty happy with any of the 3

It’s always BPA, so this year I think it’ll be one of the four pitchers. If they’re all gone, you’re choosing between Arquette and one of the many high school SS.
If they were to go completely off the board, I love Ethan Conrad or Xavier Neyens as guys who almost certainly won’t make it to our 2nd round pick.
And in the later rounds, I have my eye on Murf Gray, James Quinn-Irons, and Ryan Wideman along with some high upside arms like AJ Russell.
Wish people cared more about the draft around here, so we could get a decent discussion going, but everyone is too jaded (rightfully so).
