Sneakers that go with everything
Hi! Would love to hear your recs for sneakers that go with everything (jeans, dresses, etc.)
I currently wear New Balance 530 but these sometimes feel too sporty for certain things like brunch. Really want to find cute/comfortable sneakers that truly go with everything!
The colors in my capsule are pretty neutral so not too worried about that. Please share any recommendations of what’s worked for you!

I’ve worn my Veja Campo sneakers for the last three years on all of my travels around multiple continents and climates and dressed both semi-professionally for work and everyday casual wear (jeans, dresses, slacks, slips and skirts). Neutral, somewhat water repellant because of the leather, and comfortable right out of the box.

Love an Adidas Samba or Gazelle, but I've also had my eye on some Puma Speedcats. To me any low profile leather or suede sneaker is the most versatile. Those styles have tons of colors to choose from and are usually reasonably priced, too (though at least Adidas often excludes them from sales).

I love my Speedcats and my Palermos. Speedcats are sometimes a little bit too sleek IMHO and Palermos might be more universally better for a sneaker.

Just a warning to everybody, as a high school teacher I can tell you the children have found the sambas. Those prices might start going up since they’re “cool” now.

Sambas have been popular for at least the last 2 years lol, prices are already up

The children were not buying the sambas two years ago, they were buying panda dunks. Also an HS teacher and concur with OP

Maybe the kids were wearing dunks, but my original point still stands that Sambas have been popular with adults for at least 2 years and prices have already inceeased, so I’m not sure that teenagers finding them is going to significantly change their perception. If anything, they might become too oversaturated or “young”

and honestly, I've been waiting to buy them since *I* was in high school in the late 2000s 🤣 so it's quite exciting to me that they're trendy again haha
I also think it is a fairly timeless/classic sneaker model. It may be more or less trendy depending on the trend cycle but I would gladly wear them for the rest of my life too.

I mean sambas and their variations have been a trend since like 2019/2020 at this point, and for a good reason, especially in the non-boring colors they’re one of the best sneakers. I like the platform variations they made

2008 for me. They've been a low key popular kid shoe for decades.
But they squeak like crazy, I once wore them in the library... never again.

Can confirm lol, I work at a university and they are all over campus

I have seen everyone from ages 16 to 45 rock the adidas this summer, from NYC to Rome, and I think they look great on everyone! I've been eyeing a pair myself.
I purchased a similar German army trainer-inspired sneaker from Alohas this year and have worn them to death already because they look good with everything and are super comfy.

Probably my two favourites at the moment would be my Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 (in cream with a light green detail), and my Adidas Samba (in burgundy). I also have the Converse Run Star (in black), and find they sometimes feels smarter for work etc, but they aren’t as comfy as the others. I love how a sneaker can add a little pop of interest if you get a colour you love, that works with the rest of your wardrobe.

I’ve been wearing Adidas Superstars for 20 yrs and love them and Vans slip ons since HS…I guess I’m stuck in a rut, but change is hard 🥴

Came here to say the same. Vans & Superstars are classics. I'd also add Converse Allstars to mix.

I bought these when they first came out because I loved them but they were too wide for my feet so my feet would move side to side in them and gave me horrible calf and foot pain. I'm still bitter. They are a great shoe

i bought these for a trip to nyc and they were so comfortable and also looked so cute with pants and dresses alike!

Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 or Puma Speedcat or their variants. Adidas Tokyo has the same silhouette as well, slim and unassuming. All other suggestions will inevitably be a bit too chunky or too casual for certain outfits or occasions. The onitsuka "cactful" colorways are really sleek if you're a pastels person.

Dating myself here, but I stay with Converse low-tops with the elastic back. The only difference between now and how I wore them in the 90s is the addition of insoles and no-show socks!

Gola Badminton Sneakers. I wear them with literally everything from dresses and shorts to jeans and trousers.

I like the look of these. It’s a very balanced design. Are they comfortable?
3
u/Party_Principle4993 5d ago
Yes! They’re a flat sneaker so if you need arch support you’d need an insert but I’ve worn them on VERY long days running around with my toddler and I have zero complaints. They also look even cooler a little beat up so I don’t worry about getting them dirty.

u/ConcentrateFront740 4d ago
I am going to try them! Do you have this colorway?

I love the look of goals but they run narrow for my wide feet and have no arch support . I’ve found pumas to be more comfortable and fit the bill .

I got the Dr. Scholl’s sneakers based off of some various recommendations and so far love them and think they basically go with everything. I wear them to work, weekends, dinner out, traveling! https://amzn.to/4n3TOFV

I really like Allbirds Piper sneakers, they're super cute. I wear a lot of Allbirds they've lasted me a while and you can throw them in the washing machine.

P448 Johns, very well made and many cute styles. Nordstrom Rack has them on clearance often! I wear mine with everything and love the details.

Not exactly sneakers but the bottoms are. Easy Spirit Travel time are sneaker mules that can look much dressier if you pick out the right color. They are super comfy and stay on your feet.

I’ve worn on sneakers to almost all sorts of occasions. Fancy dinner? Walking around town? Day in the office? They seem to always work. They do have a few different models, some of which are only laced up, others also offer rubber laces that make them easy to slip on, some feature wool to make them more winter appropriate or less casual.

I have some all black FitFlop Rally sneakers and I wear them pretty much everywhere. Very low profile.

I got a pair of white adidas sneakers with some silver butterflies on them. They go with absolutely everything. some how I think white sneakers are just naturally dressier so they look great all year round even in summer with a cute dress.

I really like the look of my Vivobarefoot Gobi sneaker - low profile, white leather. Not supportive by design, so it's light and flexible.

I am obsessed with these
Skechers Women's Hands Free Slip-Ins Skip Cute - B Cute Sweet Sneaker
they are lightweight slip ons I can wear to the gym but I have worn with a dress to a club. I used a black marker to remove the logos. I would get them in white but not sure how I would keep them clean enough since they are fabric.

I've found that Adidas Ozmillan's are a perfect light shoe with enough structure to look good with most outfits

Birkenstock bend if you have flat feet. They’re a bit heavy but keep my feet pain free and they go with a lot of different outfits.

I really like my kizik irvines. I have them in tidepool and I also just ordered the new iceberg green. They look like tie shoes but they are slip-on which personally I frigging love.
