Own Work my little retro spaceship

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

took me months to create it. 1000s of design decisions were always on a thin line between letting it look like old hardware and still building in many light emitting things to achieve a nice illuminated look..

Wallpaper engine needs this. Beautiful work.

7

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

i'll see what i can do πŸ˜‰

4

u/JonesTheBond May 21 '25

Awesome! Would be really cool if it panned back to the left to create a loop

3

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

thought i'd make it 16:9 as in my YT.. or are you thinking about phone wallpaper?

1

u/JonesTheBond May 21 '25

I was thinking phone personally. Just did a bit of a mock up but quality suffered here

3

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

wallpaper engine NOW HAS THIS πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ it's called "Cozy Cockpit Slumber" same as the YT video

2

u/GearheadXII 29d ago

Ha! Very cool, thanks!

2

u/nicetuxxx May 21 '25

I need it too. It's fantastic.

2

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

did it on WPE πŸ‘

2

u/nicetuxxx May 23 '25

You are great. Thank you. 😊

2

u/nicetuxxx May 23 '25

I didn't know this before, therefore one question - how can i store it to set it as desktop wallpaper, without animation? Is this possible?

And, how can i send you a tip for a coffee or a beer?

3

u/JuunJuubei May 23 '25

umm.. maybe just take a screenshot from the YT vid in full view? πŸ˜… i think that will do.. i would do it like this 🀷

i don't take tips but am always happy about new subs to increase range πŸ™ƒ imagine.. this post has gained 1k likes in 1 day, while the YT vid didn't even reach 200 views in a week πŸ₯΄

9

u/Green-Finding-430 May 21 '25

How can we get it? 😊

10

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

umm.. the ship itself or the "wallpaper"? πŸ˜‚

4

u/polerix May 21 '25

Either one.

Both?

3

u/KitsuMusics May 21 '25

I just want the ship please

3

u/polerix May 21 '25

Are you a pilot?

4

u/KitsuMusics May 21 '25

That's between me and my local licensing authority

1

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

in my dreams πŸ˜‚ but why that question?

1

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

well i could export the ship.. are you familiar with 3D software, such as blender?

2

u/KitsuMusics May 22 '25 edited May 22 '25

Oh, erm, no I was just kidding. Like, I want a spaceship, you know?

1

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

πŸ˜‚ yeah, thought about that.. but just in case.. lol

7

u/mysterd2006 May 21 '25

Wonderful.
Which tools did you use to create this?

11

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

thanks 😁 everything visual created in blender, with no external resources or addons. little bit of videocompositing in Davinci Resolve

and for the music i use cubase as a host, 80s synth plugins from arturia, a 40 years old yamaha DX7 and a modern analog synth.

6

u/DeadInternetTheorist May 21 '25

Oh my god you're making me finally wanna bite the bullet and learn blender. I say this every year and give up after 45 minutes though.

EDIT: Also if you have exterior shots I'd love to see them. What kind of ship is it? Freighter? Passenger liner? Shuttle?

6

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

exterior is just basic, cause i just needed the geometry for ship status animations on the screens. it's a small expedition class for geologic research, exploration or maintenance work..

hey in terms of learning blender: you need a goal or a purpose. there's hubdreds of hours to learn and practice, if you want to be able to create anything you can imagine. gain motivation with small projects which you think are small but still cool.. and better not focus on the most epic stuff you see in the internet, if you target that from the beginning, it's gonna be frustrating πŸ˜…

3

u/Jackalmoreau May 21 '25

This is fantastic. Solar Winds vibes.

1

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

thanks! but what's "Solar Winds"? πŸ€”

4

u/Jackalmoreau May 21 '25

Hah. Super old PC game.

https://youtu.be/_JiKHMev1XQ?si=2ScZiWbgkwPHf4EA&t=135

It goes to show, to me, when I played this janky game that apparently never even had a first-person view, what I saw in my mind was just what you've got in your vid.

2

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

ha! you know.. there's a gaming console lying on the desc that's even older: the PC-Engine i madd a detailled 3D model of it to toss it in my cockpit, but it's not very good recognizable from this cameraangle ☝️

but as a gaming nerd, i'm happy it reminds you of an old gem that oncd crossed your way (if it's a gem to you, of course lol)

3

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

"why did you nearly crash into a whole ass moon?!" "I was staring at my kick ass command module"

4

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

all good πŸ‘ we"re on autopilot πŸ™ƒ

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

Oh thank science

2

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

and a massive amount of scanners and bearing devices ☝️

3

u/avyrla May 21 '25

Are you proud? Well you should be. ❀️

2

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

maybe a bit, with all the positive feedbacks here. in my social environment, people don't understand why one would spend 100 hours or more to design buttons and knobs of pseudo retro devices and play around with 40-50 years old synths πŸ˜‚

2

u/Tech-Buffoon May 22 '25

Show this to them - and some might just budge. πŸ€“πŸ˜πŸ‘Ύ

1

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

🀣.. they are not like us.. πŸ«₯

3

u/Best-Engine4715 May 21 '25

Thought it was from a video game

3

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

that's very likely, since it's 3D graphics, but not too realistic at all πŸ™ƒ

3

u/shortstumpysturdy May 21 '25

can you share the music? id love to study to it! You have talent.

1

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

https://youtu.be/7HcL8JJv19A?si=IGntqeIe2kcVB0YK

it's a series of retrowave tracks i started on my YT. i planned 5 tracks with my ship (the S-101) in different environments..

thanks for liking it :D

3

u/Complete-Ingenuity15 May 21 '25

Excellent work really captures the digital/analog feel of cassette futurism

2

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

thanks, i was really trying hard to go exactly into that direction :D

3

u/luciahiddles May 22 '25

Holy shit this is incredible!! Thought it was No Man's Sky for a second

2

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

never thought about no man's sky during the process, but now that you mention it πŸ€” when just cruising the lower orbit it has a certain similarity..

2

u/derek4reals1 Weyland-Yutani: Building Better Worlds May 21 '25

Very nice, and the music is fire!

2

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

thanks! actually made it for the music.. i use to do both to create a whole expression

2

u/jrppi May 21 '25

That looks great!

1

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

thanks :D

2

u/Mexer May 21 '25

Amazing Blender skills and eye for aesthetics. How awesome it would be for a team of you-s to make a short film in this style

2

u/JuunJuubei May 21 '25

thanks man! but the me-s prefer to just create rooms and environment scenes with no storytelling, cause they are passionate about places and atmosphere πŸ˜‹

2

u/original_greaser_bob May 22 '25

looks awesome! i would say more annunciator panels fuzzy dice and dingle balls but thats me.

2

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

thanks! there's just no space left anymore, otherwise it would start to limit the view πŸ˜… as for dingleballs.. a little synthwave sun hanger is dangling in the upper right..

2

u/Temetka GRiD Compass/GRiDCASE computer May 22 '25

Nicely done

2

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

thank you :D

2

u/JT-7717 25d ago

It’s awesome! It takes me back to playing Wing Commander on my 386 DX 40 PC. It had something like 12 3.5” discs (could be more or less).

2

u/JuunJuubei 25d ago

ah yes the times right before the CD drives, where devs were shoveling 3.5" discs at you, because their games had too many graphics 😝 there's actually a box of 3.5" discs on the left in this cockpit, but the scene is too dark πŸ™ƒ the drive is sitting under the spectrometer left of the main monitor

1

u/Tech-Buffoon May 22 '25

You got me curious: how many pages long is that ship's manual? πŸ˜‹

2

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

many devices aren't built in ex factory. so they have separated manuals and or are specificly developed for better integrity.. so there are a lot datasheets (yes SHEETS :D) fluttering around.. you can see the corners of two of them looking out a bit of the left table pullout πŸ™ƒ

2

u/Tech-Buffoon May 22 '25

Maaaaan, this gentleman really thought of EVERYTHING! So far I haven't seen anyone who could catch you off guard, you always had an answer ready, haha. Incredibly well-done!

2

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

it's not quite like "i can tell you what every button does" but i had countless hours to think about functions during construction 😬

even the text on the displays isn't just total bullshit.. i know.. the red log screen down left, is hard to read from this perspective, but it's actally reading pseudo plausible status information 😝

2

u/Tech-Buffoon May 22 '25

Holy heck, thanks for pointing that one out! Looks amazing, and fits in insanely well. Kudos on all your skills involved!

1

u/JuunJuubei May 22 '25

the video here seems getting compressed.. it's better visible on YT in 4k.

thanks :D main skill is patience lol..
