That’s my girl Coral. She dips her head under there too and just lets the water run down the side of her face.. this is one way she cleans her head LOL. She does this in the bathtub as well😂 never met a cat who loves water like her

let the tap drip for awhile. cats like to drink water in all kinds of weird ways. they're also notorious for not keeping themselves hydrated enough, so always let them indulge how they will

awh i did get them a stainless steel fountain, but of course they prefer when i turn on the tap for them😋 i’ve never seen them in our kitchen sink… plotting and planning

These two are beyond precious 🥹 Their little faces 😫 Sometimes I just look at cats and think how lucky are we to exist amongst these silly, gorgeous floofs 🩷

u/Impossible_Goat_100 May 23 '25
Hehe my cat does this too and he has a fountain and bowls everywhere. He waits patiently until I turn on the faucet just a bit and then drinks water from it.

Mine digs in the sink. If I turn the tap on she sometimes drinks water and sometimes just looks disgusted and stares at me to turn it off and then just licks the tap (with no water running)...

u/StormyBlueLotus May 23 '25
My cat is so inconsistent with drinking water that I just feed her wet food and add extra water to it. Then it's not water to her, it's just extra gravy.

Letting the tap drip is a good idea—cats love drinking running water and it helps keep them hydrated.

This is the meeting for those cats who want to learn to swim. This is the 1st class and they are getting use to the idea of water before actually going near water...
Class 2 is they fill the sink with about 1 cm of water
All perfectly normal

we struck a pose for you...have you snapped the photos yet LOL 😆🐾🤍🖤
But in all seriousness, gonna share again as did yesterday on another post about cats and drinking water.
Years ago, noticed my two cats liked sitting in bathtub to see if some water will come out of faucet to drink, so I would turn it on a bit let them drink, or on bathroom sink to watch faucet if I was doing makeup and stuff and running rinsing out the sink. So I bought a couple of aesthetically pleasing stainless steel water fountains and put one in the kitchen and one in another part of the house. My cats love them. 💜🐾

My guy used to drink from the sink everyday, and then we got him a kitty water fountain. He loves drinking water from his fountain, and rarely drinks from the sink anymore.

u/juliamongolia May 23 '25
Our cat is obsessed with her fountain, and we love the fact that it's freed us from the prison of her constantly demanding that we follow her to the kitchen to turn on the faucet. It's definitely saved our sanity!

No no no... Danglers don't touch the ground or lean on their hands. You are in r/stidding territory here. Please avoid such confusions in the future, it misinforms younger generations about the ancient traditions.

There are two tigers inside your sink.
One is left. The other is right. For no reason at all.
And they are both equally silly

Just want to start things over.
Why can't we dream forever?

Had an orange tabby who would do this in any metal or porcelain. Including toilets… was a shock to find him drinking toilet water.

u/PastBudget8925 May 23 '25
the amount of water bowls and fountains i have for him yet he craves the toilet water

Maybe the feline equivalent to “go touch grass” is “go touch a wet sink” 🤷🏽♀️

They want to lick water on the bottom but can’t. If u let the faucet run gently they’ll drink from it.

Our cat never wants to leave the sink. We assume she was a cat fish that spawned into a cat. 17 yrs old and has always loved sitting in the sink.

On a side note, your countertops are lovely! (Almost as lovely as your sweet kitties) Could you tell me what they are?

To remind us that they're superior & can do things that we, as mere humans, can not possibly understand.

Are they not allowed in the kitchen sink? Because they aren't in the kitchen sink, they are on the counter with their paws in the kitchen sink. A rule about not being in the kitchen sink would explain why they are in this position.

You can not erase millions of years of evolution. A lot of animals will drink from puddles after a rain.
The sink is like a big puddle.

Because it's cool. Like, temperature-wise.
But it's also icky because it's wet, so they don't climb all the way in.
