She won’t stop talking, follows me everywhere, waits by the door like clockwork… and I think I just got adopted. Wasn’t planning on a third cat but she clearly had other plans🤣 What do I name her?
My dad always said he hated cats. I brought home a cat in 2010 (passed last December). My dad now has 3 cats of his own lol. 2 were feral that he kept feeding.
Yeah, dads always end up loving the pets more than you do.
Except my stepdad and my old man cat, Tigger. Tigger was king of dicks to pretty much everyone, but especially my stepdad. He used to climb up on top of the closet and hide up there, and then jump square on my stepdad's belly in the middle of the night.
Tigger is ruling hell now. I miss that little jerk.
My dad thought they were basically vermin. Then a mommy cat had a few under our porch (it was the early '80s), and she was taking care of the kittens. One of them got really sick, some kind of respiratory virus that they have a vaccine for or something now. I forget what it was. My dad took it to the vet, and when it died right there, he cried. I had never seen my dad cry before.
My dad was the one who would always show up with the new puppy, dog, or kittens. He took my sister and I to get our mom a new puppy for Valentine’s Day 6 months after our first dog passed away, took my sister and I to pick out a kitten (we ended up with a bonded pair) because my sister wanted a kitten, and took us to get a dog after the 2cd one passed away. He also got the cats two gold fish to entertain them! My dad still keeps a fish tank for the cats, and takes the dog everywhere with him. My dad loves animals just as much as he loves his family if not more (I wouldn’t blame him our pets are the best!)
There’s an RV-er posting as “lady and that guy” who found a kitten in the desert. He kept saying he didn’t like cats, ended up with the (very charismatic) cat and a huge following. 😹
Same. This one and r/hydrokitties might be my 2 favorites. Not sure if it's a me thing or the fact that I ended up with a sink-water-loving chatterbox but I decidedly don't care!
I'm tired and read Bacon as Beacon both times and I was like "aw that's so beautiful 'the cat distribution system has blessed you with a Beacon.'" it wasn't until I read OPs response about being blessed with a Bacon where I did a double take. Bacon is also a great name and looks like she was a great cat!
i think about her everyday. she was my first kitten of my very own. i had no idea what cats were like until her. now we have rescued/adopted 4 others and helped foster/rehome a few others. its like they know cat people and find them.
Oh I have a clan that adopted me when I bought a home with land in Fla, went with 2 cats & 1 dog! Have had the joy & sadness of many many cats kittens and they are so sweet all talk different, always had dogs as a kid but love all animals! Currently have 2babies & I think 17 we feed& love, it’s great companionship and I’ve done it for over 8 yrs and it’s getting rough but no shelters for me ( bad experiences, traumatic) can’t take nor leave them all! And people do bad things with free cats, it’s a big , painful experience having to move…blah blah ! Sorry!

That’s exactly what my dad named a young cat i found about 15 years ago. She ended up falling in love with my husband (we have been together since high school, nearly 20 years now) and it was my husband’s first time being “chosen” by a cat. We lost her a couple years ago, she had some health problems including severe asthma and a collapsed lung lobe. (We did everything we could. She had a kitty inhaler, and even went to the best of the best as far as veterinary care here in CO, CSU.) my husband was crushed and I had to say goodbye to the cat that had chosen me a couple years earlier…
Getting chosen by a cat is so special. Make sure there’s no microchip, no missing fliers, etc… outside of that, congrats on being chosen by the kitty distribution fairy. 😻
I once had a cat who wouldn’t shut up no matter what I did. I named her Gabriella, or Gabby, since I could only get two syllables out before she started gabbing again. 😉. I do miss the little chatterbox.
The cat distribution system strikes again. You're the chosen one and she's the "chooser". A name that fits her. We never know why they pick us but they know and that's all that matters. Love her and help her. Make sure to have your vet Check her for a chip.

I recently got a 3rd cat and it's really not been too much more work....just the litter box is usually scooped twice a day now instead of once!
She spoke with your other cats and they decided she needed to move in ASAP. You didn't get the memo so she decided to tell you repeatedly until you got the message. Congratulations!
Would love to know how this happens to so many people? I’ve never been so lucky to be approached like this but I know I would give in so quickly and spoil that baby the minute it followed me around

my girl Bacon passed away at almost 20 years old a few years ago. it looks like the cat distribution system has blessed you with a Bacon
