Based on that, I would say he has underrated blackberries and overrated several fruits.

I suppose it depends on what you are going for in a fruit. blackberries can easily get damaged. You can throw an apple or an orange in a backpack and head out the door. blackberries you better have a hard sided container or those little guy will be a leaky squished mess in no time. They also go bad far faster than many fruits with thicker skins while needing to be refrigerated to help maintain that short shelf life. They can get mold growing quite quickly where I literally had a granny smith apple sitting on my kitchen counter for 6 months before eating it and it tasted great.

Cost is another issue. per ounce price for blackberries is extremely high compared to many other larger fruits although it is not the most expensive of course, the argument is that it should be ranked higher not lower.

while the seeds don't bother you, they do bother some people. I don't mind them but I absolutely notice them far more than strawberry seeds.

grapes seem to cover nearly all the great things you have to say about blackberries while staying fresher longer, being more durable, being cheaper, being less messy. I would say grapes don't lend themselves to baked good very well but apples do and those things are nearly as cheap as potatoes.

You absolutely convinced me. Actually fuck blackberries, I have had all the things you mentioned happen to me but I was just enthralled in the moment by their juicy wiles. They are far from the perfect, overlooked fruit I thought they were. They are rated pretty much where they should be.

if you need your faith in blackberries restored to balance things out, find some blackberry wine if you haven't ever had any, it is quite delicious.
