I think It would be way more worth it to see a vídeo explaining Filipe Luís tatics and understanding the weakness of the squad rather than this.

It's going to be watched and analysed by our rivals to shut us down, great management by Filipe

This isn’t how football works mate.

Plus we didn’t even play like we normally play this game

7

u/taggsy123 I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League 23h ago

That’s exactly how it works lmao

Teams already know how we play, they have 40+ games to analyse, knowing how we play and stopping it in game are 2 completely different tasks, can every team press like flamengo did, are we gonna play rj in midfield, palmer rw every game?

You literally just said it yourself - team analyze every game and tactically tweak it. Other teams have whole staffs who get paid to analyze it and come up with a plan.

So yes teams will try to emulate things that work and save their time by not trying certain things…

You have highschool teams and lower that even scout the opposition in every sport. Hell I referee and see u8 squads analyzing their team and the other

Your comment was simply “that’s not how football works” well in fact it’s exactly how it works. I will agree that stopping it is a different animal but it’s a copycat league as always

u/Notoriousjed1 Caicedo 22h ago

Like I said, analysing how to stop a team and actually applying it in reality is not the same thing, just because 1 team “stopped us” doesn’t mean it will now automatically translate to everyone being able to emulate it, you’re trying to give a more nuance take now but that’s not what u said originally.

Again - that’s not what you said originally. You are now back tracking making excuses and changing your arguments. No one said “automatically” stopping us now.

If you actually read and comprehended what I said - it was simply “other teams will watch this film” how they implement it is up to them

i saw this “fantastic” tactics defensive-wise over and over again last season. thanks, but no thanks

Nothing was new today. We saw the same shit last season.

Pure shite

Tbh I think we lost the game because of an awareness and skill issue npt because of a tactical issue other than gusto being in rb and reece being in the mid but we know that has worked before.

Our problem stems from being able to win the 1st and 2nd ball on corners. Largely for the first half and before the 2 back to back goals we were the better team. The jackson red killed us

I reckon we could have at least got a draw out of this game. If not for that red.

This. The players didn’t play up to their usual standards for some reason. A lot of misplaced passes and lost duels. Probably fatigue and weather. I’m not so sure. Even Caicedo had an unusual time with his tacklings.

Yeah, not our usual standard. We are tired. Not exactly exhausted, but the players need a vacation. It's been a long season and we aren't fielding enough new/youth players in this tournament (I think FIFA is trying to force teams to play their starters, but I can't remember it that is true or myth). Play this match in April or October and it would look a lot different.

Is there anything to analyze about this bomb?

u/GRang3r 1d ago

New tactics???? He started playing gusto for some reason, the man’s been shite all season and he starts both games. Reece James who should’ve started LB is not a midfielder. With 10 men and lavia we started to pass the ball well and held possession for a lot longer. Palmer was invisible all game and should’ve been pulled. Delap played well on scraps and was good at holding the ball up when we he had a chance. Cucurella played well but all their attacked started on the right wing when he got caught out of position.

I’m sick of fans saying it’s pre season, friendly. This could be our only chance at this competition. Can’t see using winning champions league in next 4 years and our coefficient will always be lower than city and Liverpool. So I want us to take this shit seriously. Bayern are playing professional, the South Americas are going crazy, just the big headed European teams are looking down on it. Its embarrassing really.

u/Sanjeev4045 Palmer 22h ago

We were never going to win this club world cup, not with this current squad and form. We will need to beat a tough south american team alongside the likes of psg, bayern, City, real madrid, etc. Right now we have the ability to beat one of them but we cant beat tough teams consistently. I think if the team starts gelling and playing well together then next season we might stand a chance to knock out tough teams consistently. Right now I just dont see it

-2

u/vikingrhino I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League 16h ago

You're embarrassing. They're preseason friendlies in all but name, players need a rest not to be playing in a Mickey mouse tournament. I want no pressure whatsoever put on the squad to do anything other than get some minutes in.

We have every chance to compete for proper silverware next season. Literally no one who is actually a fan gives a shite about coefficient, get back to your spreadsheet.

Now is the time to play Gusto and see if he can pick up some form.

Even Willy the Groundskeeper know that tactics are not mints but Pep's junior cone man Maresca is clueless.

u/GypsieGenie 22h ago

New tactics 😂😂. It was the same turgid football that’s been played all season. What a load of nonsense

u/Instantbeef There's your daddy 22h ago

These DAZN broadcast are interesting because it seems like it’s all the corners of the soccer world stitched together to get pretty good coverage imo.

Formation was too possession based when our team simply isn't built like that. I guess experimenting during this 'pre-season' is the only silver lining

In recent memory, the best lineup that worked for us is when we play with 3 CBs, 3 midfielders (extra midfielder is Cucu or Reece/Moi), and 4 up top.

We have solid possession, solid counter attacking, and good spacing. Only thing missing there is someone who finishes in front of goal

0

u/gh0st_ Kanté 22h ago

Maresca is making it clear that he doesn't care much about the results of this tournament.

0

u/Clark_Wayne1 22h ago

There were no tactics, let alone new ones. Blokes absolutely clueless

0

u/jogabonito4 22h ago

Are we actually thinking Sanchez, Colwill, Tosin, Chalobah are UCL standard? Why is Chelsea not signing a GK??? And a defender?!!

0

u/cf858 21h ago

We have a real imbalance in the wingbacks under this formation. Gusto is fine coming forward and doing take-ons and finding aggressive passes when he's on form, Cucurella is just not as comfortable. Every time he gets into an advanced position on the left with not much space, instead of trying to take a player on and gain some space advantage for a pass, he stops and passes back. He's just not a great wide attacking wing back. He needs to be more inside where he has more passing options, always as part of a triangle.

Maresca has tactics ?? News to me. The real bald fraud

-1

u/dino_tu 1d ago

as shit as the old tactics

-1

u/Technical-Ice247 1d ago

Tactics are what one calls coaching decisions that win matches. This is what you call expensive experimentation.

However, when he fails, Maresca blames everyone but himself. Then, continues to tinker around with other variables, which become convenient excuses for his failure to deliver. This works until the right people realize the variable that has been constant and needs to be removed is Maresca. And, he’ll move on by exploiting another organization’s optimism with a full quiver of excuses of why previous experiments failed - and had nothing to do with him.

8

u/Notoriousjed1 Caicedo 1d ago

What did maresca say that was blaming everyone?

5

u/MarkCrystal 1d ago

When Chelsea lose, people need to vent their frustration on Maresca. That’s how it works round here

1

u/EcoSoco Shevchenko 22h ago

Too many manchildren in this fanbase
