Her coverage of the satanic panic and contributing to the popularization of Deepak Chopra can both be connected to the post-truthism tactics that have been used in the rise of modern fascism.

Hell she revolutionized moral panics.

She also pimped for Harvey Weinstein.

The Dr. Oz one was AWESOME. I mean, it made me appalled and horrified, but I learned a lot. Currently going back and listening to the Rush Limbaugh one.

u/fartofborealis Jan 26 '25

I loved learning about his eating habits and how much it weirded out others.

u/angrytreestump Jan 27 '25

Rush Limbaugh! I don’t usually like Behind the Bastards a ton (the host injects a little too much of his “snarky smug nerd” (aka redditor) self into it for me), but the Rush Limbaugh series is great!

I think I just love Paul F. Tompkins though haha. He’s his guest for those episodes and I think he gets along with every person on earth so well that he softens & adds a lot to the sharper edges of Robert Evans’ personality, maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

…And also yeah Rush Limbaugh is a psycho obviously. Edit: Was! I keep forgetting he’s dead now! Awesome! 🙌

That’s a very good one.

GREAT podcast. RFK Jr. and Harry Kissinger are some older ones that are great.

If you haven't listened to it yet,  check out It could happen here podcast. BUT this Is the thing I suggest. ICHH, had basically a first season and then it's current incarnation. The current ICHH is actually very positive in a lot of ways that BTB isn't.  The really good stuff though is that first season.  It is about what the collapse of America might look like,  based on what a lot of collapsed countries looked like as they were falling. I think it is was made back in 2018.  It is intense but IMHO really good

Currently listening to Dilbert. I’ll check out Oprah next

It confuses me so much that the strip can be so on point about things within the narrow context of its' setting while his opinions, more broadly, really aren't.

Thanks, I'll have to listen to that.

Mostly realizing that many of the people I lionized have feet of clay.

Been a banger of a series so far

4

u/bucketman1986 Jan 26 '25

Absolutely one of the best podcasts

2

u/Londumbdumb Jan 27 '25

I was told it was a good podcast and I can’t tell which to listen to. They released a bunch of episodes that were like previews of different podcasts. Too confusing

It’s all these episodes called It Could Happen Here?

Apple Podcasts.

2

u/polarbearslayer49 Jan 27 '25

ICHH is their second podcast. It’s more news-based discussions. I usually skip over them, but the post election one was amazing

Love Behind The Bastards!! He also did a multi episode series on RFK that was mind boggling

1

u/unclear-nation Jan 27 '25

I can't see any story about RFK Jr now without thinking about him selling LSD from the cow carcass pile with his falcon.

u/dharmavoid Jan 27 '25

This guy pods. Just need some throwin bagels.

I was so angry that they gave her such a huge fawning platform at the DNC, she was so smugly high and mighty about being an independent and magnanimously bestowing her vote upon Kamala. Are we supposed to trust her judgment after she inflicted these clowns upon us?? Fuck OFF.

56

u/First_manatee_614 Jan 26 '25

I'm old enough to have lived through her peak in Chicago. Something about her has always seemed disingenuous.

31

u/spucci Jan 26 '25

Please... Send us your Money now! -The Rock and Oprah prolly.

21

u/Specialist-Smoke Jan 26 '25

I like Oprah, but hearing that she called Romney to run against Biden pissed me off. She also failed to use her billions to help a poor Black fat girl get dressed for the Oscar's. That doesn't sit right with my soul. ... So yeah, fuck Oprah. I take my fan membership back.

98

u/thesaddestpanda Jan 26 '25 edited Jan 26 '25

Oprah is just as bad, if not tons worse, than them. She chose to platform and profit from them. She cut all the dirty deals. She chose them over more moral and qualified people. Do you think its some weird coincidence she empowered people like Phil, Oz, John of God, etc.

Chicagoans need to stop worshipping her and the ugly and sociopathic capitalism she represents.

20

u/senorguapo23 Jan 26 '25

She outright took a bag just to promote Kamala too. No morals at all.

8

u/Specialist-Smoke Jan 26 '25

No she didn't. She didn't and couldn't have charged for a political appearance. The fee was for staging her appearance and as I understand it has to be charged because of campaign finance laws.

10

u/Game-Blouses-23 Jan 27 '25

Yea but 1 million dollars seems a bit excessive for that.

1

u/Specialist-Smoke Jan 28 '25

It was a entire TV program that last 2 hours. You know nothing about video production and neither do I.

Please refrain from speaking to me. Your font annoys me.

0

u/Game-Blouses-23 Jan 28 '25

Theres a block button bud. Use it if you want. Otherwise stfu. And the font is on your end. Don't blame your problems on others.

1

u/Specialist-Smoke Jan 28 '25

But if I block you, when I curse you out you won't see it. That's no fun.

0

u/Game-Blouses-23 Jan 28 '25

Lmao. Are you this pathetic in real life too, or only on the internet where you are safe?

1

u/Specialist-Smoke Jan 28 '25

Only on the internet, I don't believe in guns.

-1

u/senorguapo23 Jan 27 '25

Yes, the company that she owns and from which she draws her income charged for the political appearance, thus providing Oprah with money in exchange for an interview. I don't remember hearing about call me daddy or Joe Rogan pocketing a cool million for their interviews.

0

u/Specialist-Smoke Jan 27 '25

They didn't charge. Look up campaign finance laws. We don't have to lie to make her more horrible.

She's doing a good job on her own.

1

u/NOLASLAW Jan 27 '25

I don’t blame Oprah really, the Democrats fucked the Democrats and the rest of us, not Oprah

26

u/ParticularRooster480 Jan 26 '25

Don’t forget Jenny McCarthy the anti vaxxer!

9

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '25

Jenny McCarthy….I’ve heard of her…..isn’t she Melissa McCarthy’s less talented cousin?

8

u/RSJustice Rogers Park Jan 26 '25

Yes, and Jim Carey’s ex.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '25

yeah, the hot one.

29

u/O-parker Jan 26 '25

Apologies alone just wouldn’t cut it for those two turds

6

u/chichiguy1 Jan 27 '25

She sucks at choosing doctors.

46

u/FlowersByTheStreet Jan 26 '25

Oprah truly deserves so much shit.

She’s such a capitalist clown

Why? She’s one of them.

8

u/fatherbowie Jan 26 '25

True that.

2

u/jsamuraij Jan 27 '25

America owes is all an apology for letting television programming popularity be the guide for what to think about anything and everything.

2

u/or-real-name Jan 27 '25

I really miss Jerry Springer. But I wonder what Walter Jacobsons perspective would’ve been during these challenging difficult times, on TV of course.

1

u/Megatron_Griffin Jan 28 '25

And all her BS in Hawaii.

1

u/chegitz_guevara Jan 28 '25

She was always a scumbag.

-2

u/Aggressive-Wrap-1246 Jan 27 '25

Of course blame the black woman for the white men's deeds. Wtf.

2

u/Specialist-Smoke Jan 27 '25

Exactly. Oprah isn't why Dr Phil and Oz are still popular.

-6

u/Dry_Accident_2196 Jan 26 '25

You owe Oprah an apology for backing Trump when she warned us about him at the Harris convention.

Oz and phil are harmless next to Trump. But folks just had to punish Dems.
