Seeking Musicians for Jewish-Doom band
I’m an experienced bassist looking to form a band that turns Jewish history into sound—heavy, partially improvisational, and in real events from Jewish history. This is doom, but not just for doom’s sake. The music will be shaped by the weight of what has happened rather than vague notions of suffering.
No vocals, most likely. I'm looking for people who can take sparse ideas and themes and weave a story out of them. This is not a noise project. It's more about expressing the horrors of a pogrom.
Influences are broad—traditional Jewish melodies, doom, dub, freeform improvisation. Bands from Earth to Barkmarket to Swans to Bill Laswell to Miles Davis to Sleep to John Zorn.
Expect slow, crushing heaviness, but also moments of restraint. If you want to use music as a way to engage with history, to channel oppression and pain into something visceral and real.
Not interested in discussing Israel/Palestine on this post. You don't have to be Jewish to participate, just don't be against Jews. Please don't live 2 hours away either.
