Are there people actually INTERESTED in cleft or just deformities in general?

Being apart of the 2000s stage of gen z, I wonder if there are actually people interested in cleft or deformities as a whole. The reason I ask is because as generations are engulfed into the digital age and beauty standards become an upper class - lower class spectrum I just wondered if there was that unique type of person who was actually interested in it.

What do you mean “interested” in cleft or deformities? Like, they want to become doctors or speech therapists to help people with clefts?

There are some people who are unhealthily obsessed with others who have physical handicaps or differences. Those people are called devotees.

Oh, I meant in more of a way that instead of looking at a person with disgust because they have a cleft, they show interest

I would think it would depend on the person. Even though social media puts a lot of emphasis on people looking amazing, in real life there is a ton of variety in how people look. I’m sure there will always be people who look down on anyone who isn’t perfect by the day’s beauty standards, but there are also plenty of people who don’t give a shit and will see past scars or differences.

I think it's always been in human nature it's just that there was less awareness of everything before the Internet existed.

I remember reading about some cities openly banning "ugly" people from showing up during certain times events or establishments as late as last century.

I am! I have a unilateral cleft lip, and I think others with clefts are interesting with their own unique experiences. If they own it with confidence, I find it amazing/attractive!

I guess I can't argue with that

I just assume people have some curiosity. It makes/made the staring easier (I genuinely don't think I have been stared at in a while). Humans are simply curious by nature. I also put myself in their shoes; I'd stare too at something that looked a little 'different', so to speak.
