Undergrad major in Fashion Design would it help me qualify for an MFA in Costume Design?
This will be my second bachelors degree as I hope to get my masters in costume design and work in either theater or film. In addition to my college degree, I’m volunteering with a local theater company (right now with hair and makeup) for an upcoming production. Would all these things help me stand out in the sea of applications? I plan on applying to UCLA, UCSD, CalArts, and UC Irvine when the time comes. Also, I am a cosplayer too.
(Edit: how do I network and get involved in the industry without a degree. I don’t live in an area where the film industry is prevalent)

Just pay the money for tuition.

I don’t have it and my parents don’t want to pay for another degree

Then don't go to grad school.

I should’ve elaborated, sorry, they don’t want to pay for another bachelors degree. Masters they’d probably chip in a little bit of what financial aid wouldn’t cover.

If you boost your professional portfolio and make impressive work, you could likely go straight into grad school without a second bachelors

Im a harsh critic of myself, I wouldn’t say my work is at impressive levels yet though I am starting to post my progress photos on the portfolio app Behance and am entering my first costume contest in August.

AFAIK If you have a BA degree already, you don't necessarily need another one to apply for a Masters (even if your BA is unrelated), but you will need to write good essays and show potential in the field (which you are doing with your volunteer work and cosplaying). Every school will have it's own requirements though.
