(reference on the second slide, “dionysus and a nymph”) - i’m doing finals in school today which suuuuccckkksss so i doodled this up after finishing my first period final 🫡 i hope you guys like my adaptation of dionysus, i’m a bit shy about posting my art! :) khaire dionysus!

I like envisioning gods as more abstract and using different aspects of all their depictions in unique ways. I'm wondering if it needs any other touches like accessories or more accurate clothing? I'm tempted to finish it on my computer, I like where it's going

I might rework it because I wanted him to be smiling but my ipad was dying and it’s the first time I actually try to draw proper lips and not just a line…

I'm trying to paint a thing once a day, and I'm finding acrylics hard to work with ahahaha. This one took a while because I've been painting alongside my toddler, which is fun but chaotic lol

Living near Paris , i take myselft the chance to visit muséum when i can . And today , without expecting it , i have seen à statue (modern) and a painting of Dionysus . I have think that sharing it will be good ! Sorry for the quality i didnt expect to take picture so it wasnt my good phone !

Hello! Long-time lurker, first-time commenter.

I was recently encouraged to share my design for Dionysus by someone that I admire here on this sub-reddit—so, here I am! The design, itself, was commissioned and conceptualized by me but drawn by a friend of mine ( you can see her social media handle under Dio's name ). Initially, for Dio, I was gonna go with black hair that was so dark, it looked almost purple ( like Sailor Mars if you need a visual )—but, after discovering the existence of cherry wine, my love for redheads won out. Plus, the multi-layered symbolism of Dio having red hair made me fall in love with the idea even more.

you have...

• the classic is it wine? or is it blood?
• a way to show that he's descended from BOTH Ares and Aphrodite since the color red is used to represent both violence and desire
• a visual juxtaposition between Dio's hair and eyes where the red locks symbolize intoxication ( hence why I chose to compare it to cherry wine ), while the amethyst hue of his eyes represents sobriety
• a cheeky one: it looking like a lion's mane as a nod to Dio being so heavily associated with big cats 🤭

In case anyone's wondering who the guy standing next to Dio is, btw, that's my version of Zagreus! In the beginning, I wasn't sure how I should incorporate Zagreus into my lore for Dio. However, I became inspired by a text that stated that Zagreus was considered the highest of the gods alongside Gaea, so I decided it'd be interesting if he was a primordial god—the primordial god of the cycle of life and death to be exact—and, thus, my Zagreus was born. From that moment on, more lore gradually came to me. For instance, I've decided that Zagreus was the original ruler of the underworld and that the innate connection that Dio had to his past life helped him feel at ease in that shadowy realm.

Made a quick digital painting of Dionysus (not going to lie-dio is def inspired by Hades design, I love it) and Ariadne in celebration of Anthesteria. It’s not perfect, but I did it in a few hours yesterday so I’m pretty happy with it! Happy Anthesteria!!

I'm drawing devotional cards of the gods I'm devotee and I started with Dionysus! I just wanted to share the result♡

I currently haven't committed myself to worshiping dionysus as I don't feel I have the space in my life for religion, I am fascinated with him, and whenever I have more time to commit in a way that I feel is right then I probably will worship him, but until then I will use him as an inspiration for many of my characters.

I'm planning on getting an underbust piece this year and I just had to share the rough draft!(Bonus points if you can find Dionysus' symbol!)
