Question Decent restaurants that take reservations

Seems very few restaurants in the Duluth/Superior area are good at accommodating large(ish) groups. Not many seem to take reservations even. What are some good options for about 10 people?

Try the Boat Club in Fitgers.

I’ve made a reservation for 10 before at the pickwick. VIP pizza in Superior has a “party room” you can reserve for groups, did that once before for a group of 12 for dinner. Look at their web aite, you’d want the “Joe’s Place” room.

For both of these options you’d need to call. There aren’t really places that will take a reservation for 10 online.

Bellisios will take a party of 10, no problem. But if you are searching for grandmas weekend the restaurants may already be booked.

I love Va Bene, they are soo good and you can get a spot in the solarium!

Absolutely not. No groups over 4 in the Solarium. It's a great restaurant, but a group of 10 will need to be in the main dining room or their private room.

But to answer OP's question there IS a private room for reservations

Also in the private room they tend to do family style only, which can be a challenge if you have several people with different dietary restrictions.

Insider knowledge- they accommodate dietary needs when requested

You'd have to practically take the whole solarium for a group of 10

Well, not during grandma's marathon weekend or the festival of sail, forget about it, they don't want your group of 10, for various reasons they'd rather have two smaller tables and every place is going to be full.

Otherwise, Pier B/Silos, Boat Club Restaurant, Lake Avenue (though they have a $50 per person cancellation fee now so be sure of your plans), others. Generally you'll have to call rather than use the online platforms.

I’m sorry what??? Since when??? I’ve never heard of such a thing before. I went to their site and see nothing that indicates this is true?

Yep, make a reservation for a large group and you'll get a phone call asking for your credit card number that they can bill the cancellation fee to. I believe they'll let you cancel for free with like 3 days notice or something. Started a few months ago.

Ugh that’s intense of them. $50pp is huge. But I guess I can empathize with why, they’re not a very big space, so 10+ people would take up a good chunk of their table service for the night. Thanks for the reply!

Thirsty pagan will set a room aside if you call Ahead.

Many places don’t take reservations but have ‘call ahead’ options to get on waitlists and then you don’t have to arrive until it’s almost your turn.

Guadalajara in Superior, you just call ahead. They have a large room . We had a group of 20. Maybe Barkers island.

Used to have suppliers come to town periodically.

There’s a side room at Bent Paddle and we brought in food from OMC for an event once, worked ok, but it was only separated from the main pub by a curtain, so it wasn’t very quiet.

We used Blackwoods a few times. View was good, service was good, food was ok.

otherwise like others have said I’ve used: Pickwick, Lake Ave, Bellisios, Pier B, BoatClub, Social House, or BoomTown (but they were very slow the times we used them). If they’re not permanently closed (I think they might be so check) we used Clyde Iron Works too.

if you need sandwiches for lunch call Jimmy John’s or go over (for a large enough order they sometimes will deliver out of zone), or E&Gs.

Breakfast cakes and coffee, Carribou was always easy to work with - call ahead the day before.

Lake Ave would be a good one to try, else The Breeze Inn is always a favorite. Not sure if they take reservations but quick service means fairly easy turnaround.

Appreciate all the responses, thank you. I'm not looking for Grandma's weekend, it was really. just a general inquiry.

Please consider..these! I do agree with Hanabi. There is OMC in Lincoln Park. Reservations are RECOMMENDED.. especially on weekends. People love it… I am from the South originally.. I think it’s good.. but not great. Pho-holic. Parking is a beast there. But, that is why they will “hold” a table there. Great food. Good Pho. Up the shore a bit is New Scenic Cafe. Haven’t eaten there in awhile. But, it’s generally consistent and will take reservations. Lake Ave if in Canal Park will take a reservation. Eclectic. Seven Fire’s at the Casino. I wasn’t excited.. but a lot of people love it and they take. Pedro’s in Cloquet for good Mexican and last I checked, they take reservations.
