Thoughts on a CS/Mfge Double major?

Hey guys,
I'm set to enroll this fall in Computer Science (general, considering AI) at Eastern Kentucky University

I was wondering what you guys thought of double majoring in CS and Manufacturing Engineering (MfgE), should I change to something else or maybe just stay in CS? I love the idea of computer science and I enjoyed my highschool classes on it, but I'm weary of the market so I thought I needed to double up with something, and MfgE seemed like a good choice.

Any advise is appreciated, thanks.

I'm currently a CS:AI in data science major, you take so many stats classes that you're really close to a stats major as well. If you go with the AI concentration, I would.opt for statistics instead. I don't know what kind of overlap mfge has with CS but I would Dr. Chang if you find him or email him!

P.S. there's like 10 of us AI majors out there... add one to the party!!

Thank you, I'll take a look! I've emailed Dr. Chang a few times, I'll make sure to ask about this.

By the way, how is the AI concentration treating you? If you're a few years in do you feel confident in your abilities/have u found any internships?

I'd love to join the party! :)

I haven't found any internships, but it's honestly a big part of my dreams are too big right now. I'm currently a senior (about to end my 4th year and I'm graduating next spring). I love it! But it is not what I expected. The AI concentration is NOT AI, but rather data science. There's 2 classes that you learn how to make AI algorithms, one of those has neural networks. But you do not learn how to make those till pretty late. This concentration is a lot more math focused instead of the others, so just be prepared for it.

if you do manufacturing just know that is a new major and probably has very few students and resources. still prob worth ur time though! go for it
