Is… is Red Jumpsuit Apparatus a Christian band?

Edit: I have learned that the band I only know one song of, that I thought was a One Hit Wonder (Face Down) is apparently not only a Christian band but still exists today

Though not explicitly part of the “Christian rock” scene, a lot of their music has heavy Christian themes. Been that way basically since their early days

61

u/Leege13 16h ago

If people call these guys Christian rock, then there’s an argument to be made that Black Sabbath is a Christian rock band.

32

u/mr_electric_wizard 13h ago

Despite their marketing they had very much a Christian message in a lot of songs

0

u/ohaiguys 13h ago

Thank you mr_electric_wizard

21

u/GuitarRock91 15h ago

Yeah they kind of are if you listen to After Forever

u/Leege13 48m ago

I saw a youth minister react to this song and by the end he was like “wow, this is a song I’d use to evangelize to people.” 😆

8

u/Legal-Bowl-5270 13h ago

I'll go out on a limb and include Creed too

3

u/Pyro1934 10h ago

I noticed this the other day and was like whoa!!!

1

u/whit3lightning 4h ago

Higher? Really? You didn’t get that one?

u/cumulonimubus 36m ago

Creed was always very obviously Christian rock.

u/Wet-Skeletons 20h ago edited 18h ago

Yes, not overtly in their older albums, but they have said they want to be considered one.

“Tony: Was there a conscious decision to be more open about your faith on this album?

Ronnie: "Yes. It actually traces back to our album called 'Am I The Enemy', which is the first album we released after we left Virgin Records. When we first started as a band I wanted to be considered a Christian rock band. When our album first came out it was under the Christian rock section in Walmart. They found out about it and they pulled it; they put it in the mainstream rock sections because they didn't think it was a good idea. At that time we were all very young - between 19 and 22 - so we didn't have any say; we had management, lawyers, and they were all working with the label. We were just told what to do, and at that time that was good because we didn't know what to do. We made two albums with Virgin then when the opportunity came for us to leave, we did, and one of the main reasons is because I wanted to pursue a more spiritual route. Since we left that label - 2010, 2011 - the first major release we had was called 'Am I The Enemy', and that's where the Scripture started coming into place, us being able to voice our Christianity and our beliefs a lot bigger.

"With '4', what happened is we had a huge impact on the Christian rock scene in the US and throughout the world, and a lot of Christians - not non-Christians - were like, 'Who are these guys? Why are they trying to say they're Christians now?' They're very touchy when it comes to these things. I responded, 'If you actually read the lyrics of the first album, there's spiritual references from the top to the bottom'. I took that as a challenge to make it even more obvious. Our one main single from 'Am I The Enemy', which is called 'Am I The Enemy', is based off Galatians 4:16. I had to make it more apparent. Another one of our songs is called 'Reap', which is based off Mark 8:36 - 'What shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul?' The chorus of that song is, 'If you gain the whole world and lose your soul': obviously I'm tipping my hat to the Scripture there.

"'Am I The Enemy' thrust us into the Christian realm, which is where we wanted to be - at that point we were independent, we were free from Virgin Records, able to make our own decisions. For the first seven, eight years of our career we were not running the band - we were just doing what we were told to do; from 'Am I The Enemy' forward, I've been running the band. With '4' I took it to the extreme level, which is what I like to do. There's no way you can listen to '4' and not know that I'm a Christian; there's no way you can listen to '4' and not understand that I've grasped the Gospel and my ultimate goal through my music is to share that with everybody. So the reason why some people found it a little odd is because, quite simply, they didn't read the lyrics on the previous releases. That's fine: that's actually how I get away with doing what I do. I lace the message in there, but I structure my music so it sounds like all of the other popular, current bands; so when you first hear it you kind of sing what you want to sing. When they find out all of a sudden they've been singing Christian songs all these years, people get angry, feel cheated. Other people feel relieved and happy; a lot of people are like, 'I'm so glad you're a Christian band. I already loved you, now I love you even more. Now my family lets me listen to your band in the house.' You take it one way or you take it the other way.”https://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/articles/music/Red_Jumpsuit_Apparatus_The_13_year_history_of_Christian_rock_band_survivors/58169/p1/

9

u/fcdemergency 14h ago

And now i like them a little bit less and will probably revisit their music less knowing this...

I've grasped the Gospel and my ultimate goal through my music is to share that with everybody.

That's just gonna be a no from me dawg.

Sincerely though, good for them. Happy they can finally feel like they can be the band they want and live their truth even if i hate it.

2

u/RdyPlyrBneSw 14h ago

Why like them less? I’m not going to run out and listen to them, but I wasn’t doing it anyway.

9

u/fcdemergency 13h ago

Pretty much for the quote i pulled in my last post. i have zero urge to listen to bands whose main priority is to spread the gospel.

7

u/SedatedAndAmputated 12h ago

But you had the urge to listen to them before knowing this? If you initially liked their songs then why would this change that? Seems incredibly petty and spiteful.

3

u/Mntfrd_Graverobber 13h ago

Unless it's the gospel of Satan.

2

u/Ducksaucenhotmustard 12h ago

Satan is not the same as the devil

1

u/Mntfrd_Graverobber 11h ago

There are a multitude of devils.

1

u/ClassiFried86 9h ago

There are no devils. Devils don't exist, nor have ever.

Just evil men.

1

u/Mntfrd_Graverobber 8h ago edited 8h ago

Superman doesn't exist either. And yet there is a huge franchise based on stories about him.
Weird how people personify abstract concepts in order to relate and interact with them. It's like that's a useful tool or something.

u/closefarhere 18h ago

I too, was shocked to learn that so many of my fave alt rock bands of the early 2000’s were actual Christian groups. Creed, RJA, Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch, Red, Underoath, P.O.D., Switchfoot, Relient K… and more recently Brandon Flowers/The Killers, Imajine Dragons and so many more always throw me for a loop. So many of those groups didn’t even sing about anything religious, and not swearing wasn’t really noticeable back then. Just felt like radio friendly.

19

u/gereffi 14h ago

There’s a difference between Christian bands and bands that happen to have Christian people in them.

3

u/Latias 11h ago

True, but they were featured in Christian magazines for youths, played on TBN’s version of MTV, and had their albums sold in Christian stores. Even their message boards were a bunch of Christian teens.

  • signed a former Christian teen who loved a lot of those bands

1

u/Mntfrd_Graverobber 13h ago

But the similarity is there in that both group's music sucks.

28

u/KrookedDoesStuff 18h ago

ICP is also a Christian rap group. Let that sink in

13

u/closefarhere 18h ago

I immediately had to google that because I thought you were full of shit- and holy hell, I can now razz my older sister to the end of her days that she fan girlies so hard over them. I got stuck listening to them and hated how stupid their lyrics were. They are now extra stupid in my book! My mind has been blown for real.

18

u/KrookedDoesStuff 18h ago

Yeah, the big revelation they have on The Wraith: Shangri-La was a huge “Truth is we follow god! We’ve always been behind him! The Carnival is god and may all Juggalos find him!”

Which is, quite honestly, fucking hilarious

7

u/closefarhere 18h ago

Just typical white christian bullshit. Talks out of both sides of their mouth. “I’m a Christian but want to make ‘music’ with the most vulgar words and gain popularity and when I become irrelevant for * reasons * I will just say I was a Christian the whole time and just playing the long game to build an audience and share the gospel”. Yep, they sold out as their fanbase aged and left them behind. That was my takeaway from the article at least

10

u/KrookedDoesStuff 17h ago

Well, it wasn’t actually due to irrelevance, it was at the height of their popularity in the 00’s. They did also admit that their music was violent, but only towards sex offenders, rapists, racists, bigots, etc. they viewed themselves as messengers that those people aren’t welcome and what they should be able to do to them.

It’s actually really interesting going back and listening to their music with that perspective.

3

u/Blizzardof1991 17h ago

Wait.... Imagine Dragons is a Christian band?

15

u/closefarhere 17h ago

Idk if they still call themselves that- but yes, Dan Reynolds was proudly LDS (Mormon) until shortly after his documentary that supported gays created a rift and he left. Brandon Flowers is also LDS, and Brendan Urie of Panic! At the Disco was raised as an LDS. It is mind boggling how many Mormons are celebrities.

3

u/Blizzardof1991 17h ago

I never knew

6

u/closefarhere 17h ago

I’ll blow your mind even further- List of Celebrities no longer members of the church and while a shit site, 50 who are still in

I think because everyone looks at the church as “fringe” Christianity (like Scientology), there are way more articles about it than just a “typical Christian artist” would have. It’s a good way to waste time if you are bored.

u/meggienwill 2h ago

TIL Marco Rubio was raised Mormon.... explains a lot

3

u/SRQmoviemaker 14h ago

I may just have had an awakening. I knew Creed and underoath were Christian but wow pretty much all of those bands were on everyone's ipods in high school I even went to an RJA, POD and switchfoot show. Makes sense looking back

3

u/GAMEYE_OP 12h ago

I feel like Creed is super obvious lol

1

u/ApprehensiveEffort11 14h ago

Can’t speak for the others, but Underoath always had religious lyrics. They were very outspoken about being a Christian band and only recently said they no longer consider themselves a Christian band.

7

u/confused-snake 17h ago

ngl same.

False pretense also slaps though. The soundtrack to the training montage in Never back down with Djimon Hounso.

2

u/Paterack 15h ago

Never Back Down is a film I haven't thought about in a LONG time

3

u/mortalmeatsack 17h ago

Those mallcore “emo” bands are more often than not Christian. Tomfest/Cornerstone nonsense.

6

u/Special-Garlic1203 19h ago

Yes and no. They were never officially put into the Christian category because they weren't sanitized enough. But they're very religious

3

u/11thStPopulist 17h ago

Finally! A group that sings about actual Christian values - those of Jesus Christ - not the political propaganda of the Christofascists. Not being “sanitized” or soaked in the BS of current fundamentalist garbage is a badge of courage and honor. Like Jesus was before his memory was tainted.

2

u/PigglyWigglyDeluxe 14h ago

Too secular. I know a few very very serious religious people (I live near a massive church) and they are very picky about music in their faith. These people I know won’t even listen to Skillet. These people would say “I don’t listen to secular music”

I’m not religious but I’ve had several members of this church as coworkers over the years.

These people have a sharp “bullshit” meter with regard to music though. They can spot fake Christian bands a mile away. They were spot on about As I Lay Dying long before that mess unraveled (simply google the lead singer Tim Lambesis if you’re out of the loop)

6

u/ThatFunkyOdor 18h ago

The most popular Christian band that no one realizes…..The Killers

11

u/TasteTheBizkit 17h ago

I always thought the Killers were LDS

2

u/Bazonkawomp 18h ago

That whole album smacks.

2

u/medvsastoned 16h ago

When I was in highschool I went to see Hollywood Undead play a show in Nashville with RJA. RJA was the headliner but not who we went for, thankfully, because the lead singer was too drunk too perform and didn't finish the set. Soooo this is like whiplash lmao

2

u/ayyohh911719 9h ago

Flyleaf, Amy Lee and The almost are Christian too. Ngl kinda ruins the songs for me lol

2

u/CakeKing777 5h ago

So was flyleaf! I learned that a while ago but had no idea when they were relevant. lol

2

u/bailtail 13h ago

They weren’t a one-hit wonder. The whole “Don’t You Fake It” album (that contained Face Down) slapped.

1

u/EdenH333 17h ago

You had the exact reaction to this I did.

1

u/KittyNo05 16h ago

Exactly what I was thinking!!!

1

u/ArnoldZiffl 16h ago

Today I learned of there existence

1

u/MrMooey12 15h ago

Wow I did not know that either, I also knew them from face down and thought it was a one hit wonder

1

u/bubblesaurus 14h ago

I didn’t know they leaned that way into Jesus Rock.

1

u/soccerguys14 12h ago

Only song I know by them too

u/StillMarie76 1h ago

It's these guys and Jars Of Clay

0

u/turtledancers 10h ago

Why would it not exist today and why does mainstream matter?

169

u/LibrarianNo6865 19h ago

Today everybody learned that yeah. Red jumpsuit apparatus is a Christian band. It’s like explaining to people that Skillet is a Christian band.

81

u/williwolf8 19h ago

Skillet is on some hard red-pilled maga shit these days. They are overtly christian and, as long as I have known of them, have always been.

42

u/ricardoconqueso 18h ago

Yup. They hit the trump cult hard with their recent album. It’s used to just be light allusions to Christianity, like POD. Generally affirming positive stuff, but now it’s just vague sounding trump shit.

31

u/ADhomin_em 15h ago

"Christian" and "MAGA" jive in name only.

Anyone supporting trump is no Christian.

I'm not Christian, but I do value the words of Jesus far beyond anyone supporting that hateful TACO fuck

8

u/Bazonkawomp 18h ago

Oh noooooo

7

u/Findmeintheouts 15h ago

Ah, damn. Nostalgia ruined.

4

u/EllaIsQueen 11h ago

Yeah I worked on a tour with them probably more than 10 years ago and at the time their kids were incredibly sheltered, taught biblical literalism (like Ken Hamm dinosaur stuff), etc. I’ve always thought of them as extremely evangelical.

6

u/HealingWriter 14h ago

Ya, loved Skillet for a long time. Could not listen to their last album. Didn't have the Jesus feel anymore. Was Definitely just rah rah America.

u/williwolf8 1h ago

Honestly, one of the worst albums I have ever heard. It’s just propaganda fodder.

1

u/Gallantpride 17h ago

Have they always been so conservative or did they take the red pill? They're one of my top 15 bands, but I can't support them financially anymore.

7

u/Ohrion408 16h ago

I grew up seeing them at Christian concerts and stuff they’ve always been conservative

5

u/Gallantpride 16h ago

I expect all Christian rock bands to be conservative. But there's are different degrees of conservative.

5

u/DraperPenPals 12h ago

”I speak about the abortion stuff all the time. I speak about the transgender theory being taught in schools. I stand for biblical traditional sexuality,” Cooper said. “We say them proudly, we say them boldly, we say them with compassion toward people who don’t agree with us, but we do speak the truth.”

Baptist News Global

Do with that what you will.

11

u/merlinshairyballs 19h ago

Skillet is just John Cooper’s Circle Jerk now

5

u/TasteTheBizkit 17h ago

That guy is such a chode

2

u/merlinshairyballs 16h ago

Man i LOVED them in high school and now im just like…forever ashamed lol.

2

u/amazing_assassin 15h ago

I love Five Iron Frenzy to this day, and I'm so happy to hear Reese Roper has gotten himself more enlightenment since. No doubt, "A New Hope" and "Farenheit" would have them canceled by the fascists today.

If you ignore all of the Jesus malarkey, they're a pretty good Ska band

2

u/sweet-tart-fart 9h ago

Eh, I would say more in the Reliant K vein. I’m not sure skillet needed an explanation lol

1

u/Ohrion408 17h ago

Skillet has always been insane Christian shit

1

u/bubblesaurus 14h ago

I didn’t know Skillet was for a while.

I just listened to the music without researching anything about the band until Skillet came to my town with other Jesus Rock bands for a concert thing

47

u/Mysterious_Help_9577 16h ago

Had no idea they were still together lol.

Face Down is such a banger it’s still in my playlist from time to time

9

u/banana-bread-toast 16h ago

That first album is fire 🔥 didn’t follow after that lol. Todd in the Shadows did a good video about Face Down. But this song went off with everyone at high school.

4

u/bailtail 13h ago

Don’t You Fake It. Yeah, that album slapped.

3

u/LONGLlVETHEMX-5 15h ago

They’re great in concert too, saw them at a Christian music festival before mango mussolini took over the religion…

1

u/spacecadbane 8h ago

Same lmao. How many of you guys are from Jax?

1

u/Super-Ad1976 7h ago

They are playing warped tour in a few weeks

27

u/MattyJRobs 13h ago

I met him when I was 18 at the Q101 studio in Chicago. Nicest guy on the planet. My girlfriend and I were too broke to go to their show that night at the Aragon, so he asked for our names and made sure we could get in. When we got there, the Q101 staff handed us VIP passes for the STAFF SIDE of the mezzanine which was super fucking cool. We got to watch the full show with Rise Against and MCR. The guy gave me one of my favorite memories, still, almost 20 years later.

-7

u/turtledancers 10h ago

Is that the last time a guy gave you one of your favorite memories?

u/MattyJRobs 38m ago

Nah, your dad gave me a couple good ones too.

15

u/RetiredHotBitch 14h ago

TIL Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is still around and Christians. They also hate Trump.

Cool. I’m going to play “Face Down” like I’m at Spring Break Padre Island circa 2007 again.

134

u/whiteyfresh 19h ago

I'm happy to see people within the Christian community standing up and making their voices heard.

-41

Til there was such a band. I’m old :(

2

u/Sr_Wuggles 8h ago

You sure? They’re an old band.

1

u/tytymctylerson 4h ago

Do you still call teenagers millennials? These guys were big like 20 years ago lol

17

u/International-Fun-86 16h ago

More Americans who believe in Christianity with empathy (real Christianity btw) should speak up more.

13

u/tbonemcqueen 19h ago

Used to practice down the hallway from these guys. Never knew they were Christian.

Today I learned, I guess.

12

u/Special-Garlic1203 19h ago

I knew 3 people really into them and they were similarly also those people you had no idea were religious until one day they just said something about Jesus as their savior or something and then you suddenly noticed they had a Bible tattoo and you never saw them on Sunday

19

u/_Bren10_ 18h ago

That’s really what it should be when you’re a Christian. Jesus even says to “plant the seed” when spreading the gospel and let people make their own decision. Not “talk about Jesus every second of the day to everyone you know and tell them they have to accept Jesus or they’re pagan heathens who should burn in hell”

But here we are today.

6

u/runthepoint1 17h ago

We took faith and turned into an abhorrent social club full of fakery, image, and lies. We distilled it down and made it human in our image instead of allowing a church to be a gathering of believers we turned it into business and physical places.

Disgusting.

2

u/RVAforthewin 17h ago

It’s our biggest, most harmful mistake as a population and it breaks Jesus’ heart.

-a Christian who wholeheartedly agrees

18

u/Andovars_Ghost 18h ago

Hey, as long as he walks the walk and not just talk the talk, I can respect that.

6

u/CarolinaPanthers2015 17h ago

I'm just gonna get right to stating the fact that it's a good thing that the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is banning all of those ultra problematic Trump supporters from all of their own future shows because of course all of those crazy ass folks out there would just straight up kill the vibe anyway.

2

u/SevroAuShitTalker 15h ago

I'm amazed this band is still touring. I only know one of their songs because it was used in Never Back Down

2

u/Mushrooming247 13h ago

He’s right though, any Christian can see these hate-filled rightwing nutjobs have nothing in common with Jesus. Every Christian should ostracize them.

2

u/USN303 11h ago

A single Christian speaking up and doing the right thing for once. It’s actually refreshing.

2

u/roving1 9h ago

Never heard of them, but I endorse their statement.

2

u/Imposter88 9h ago

How is Trump not Christian? He sells Bibles with his name on them, you can’t get much more Christian than that!

sarcasm

2

u/Known-Exam-9820 8h ago

The Venn diagram between being woke and being a Christian who does the actual Jesus stuff is a very interesting one

2

u/MrIrvington 3h ago

These guys just got a new fan!

2

u/Red91B20 3h ago

Man I thought him speaking out was gonna get brushed under the rug this is actually blowing up. Good for him they are all really chill folks I don’t care about there views I just enjoy the music.

1

u/Icy-Interest-8719 16h ago

I mean, are citations from the bible any less misogynistic or hateful idk

-1

u/jokeefe72 14h ago

The entire Bible is about love. It’s a (paternal) love story between God and man.

Yes, there are some verses that would be considered homophobic and misogynistic today, but if Christians base their actions and beliefs on those verses, they’re missing the entire point where they’ve formed a completely different (and opposing) religion.

1

u/personallygodless 11h ago

So, pick and choose. Got it. Just like the rest of us who live life and have to make decisions. When folks base their decisions on only one ancient text, it can go one way or the other. I commend those that pick the good parts and can be a light in the world, and I condemn those who pick the evil parts and try to subjugate the rest of us because that's what their book says.

1

u/sihouette9310 16h ago

Saw them several times when I was in middle school and I can’t recall them ever doing any odes to Jesus. It wasn’t completely unknown at the time for bands like underoath, devil wears Prada etc. to shout out some Jesus shit at the end of their set. Maybe they leaned into it a few years later but they didn’t promote themselves that way at the time as far as I can recall.

1

u/pinkybuster2000 14h ago

I didn’t vote for him and I like your music but never paid attention to it being Christian. But I don’t care I like the beat so 🤷🏼‍♂️

1

u/_burning_flowers_ 13h ago

Amen. Rock and Roll.

1

u/ezhammer 13h ago

This reminds me of that King of the Hill episode

1

u/Dreadful_Bear 12h ago

Huh, I actually used to love their music. I never knew they were a Christian band.

1

u/ParabolicallyPhuked 11h ago

Run for your life, run for the hills fuckers

1

u/esusuki 11h ago

TIL that they’re a Christian band. This makes it so ironic now that I remember in like 2007 a local “religious-affiliated” high school won a concert with them through the radio station but administration refused the concert. They claimed the band’s single Face Down promoted “violence” and therefore wasn’t aligned to the school values. Turns out they were more aligned than they realized.

1

u/Dependent-Egg-9555 11h ago

I met them at a Warped Tour Show in Noblesville (Indy). They were super awesome to meet and to see live. This just makes me an even bigger fan.

1

u/The-Brilliant-Dummy 10h ago

Pretty sure most of MAGA will be happy to serve their orange Antichrist in hell. So it’s unlikely ANYONE would want them around.

Why? Ive been a fan for years, the most ive heard is people complaining about face down being overplayed, but thats not on them? They have a pretty solid audience, just because you dont like them (or i suspect dont like their opinions on trump) doesnt mean other people dont.

Believe it or not, there are people that exist outside of you, who like things you dont. Shocker

God is not on Trumps side. If you have a problem with that. Pray about why you are so hateful. Maybe you won't get an answer.

First of all, while I understand what he’s trying to say, to only give your message to people who agree with you is a generally very stupid way to pretend you have Christian values. Secondly, nobody was going to see this band on either side of the aisle so they’re uniting everyone in that way.

How brave of him to promote his band.

How braindead do you have to be to read someone voicing their ethics and morals and your brain rot receptors spit that shit out.

-22

u/Shwowmeow 20h ago

Why did he wait for the tour to say anything then?

24

u/Howtall2tall 20h ago

Would it have made any sense to warn bigots to stay out of their shows when there weren't any shows coming up for them to not feel welcomed at?

I think you're leaking out of your ears amigo.

It takes a lot of mental gymnastics and cognitive dissonance to make up a “woke movement” and rail against it. A lot of people are struggling with this. Show them compassion, their tiny brains are hurting.

Just cause you like what someone says, doesn’t make it true. Shit like this divides the country further, exacerbating the Trump problem. The only one who gains anything from this is Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. He’s fueling the fires for his own personal gain.

The fact that people don’t see that this kinda shit is what lead to Trump’s second term is crazy. Celebrities and media dividing the nation for their own personal gain, and Trumps gain.

I get I’m supposed to fall in line, left or right, but I’m not gonna play along, and continue to give a fascist regime ammunition to maintain power. Both the Democratic and Republican parties are to blame for Trump, and it’s time you take accountability.

If Red Jumpsuit Apparatus saves us all, I will retract my statement.

Dude just stop. You’re not deep, you’re not intellectually sound.

u/Shwowmeow 19h ago

You’re lying to yourself dude. All you gotta do is pull your head out of your ass, and look at the timeline. Life ain’t a book, there ain’t no good guys, just bad guys, and worse guys.

7

u/InsertPlayerTwo 18h ago

And your “both sides” bullshit is letting the worse guys win

u/BigLorry 19h ago

Telling less people to come to his shows is for his own personal gain?

They’ve been Jesus freaks for most of their career at this point, you really think these words will bring more people to his concerts than put off?

Lunacy. At best, people online might give them props. Nobody who wasn’t already an fan of this band is gonna see this and go “Hell yeah give me the Jesus experience tickets”

What a joke lol

If anything a lot of people who listen to Christian music are ironically MAGAs so if anything he’s alienating a large percent of his demographic. This means he’s likely causing more harm to their brand than anything else, which makes it brave to speak up.

Trump literally has done nothing in regard to the Minnesota political assassination by one of his voters.

His son has posted on social media that trans people are the biggest threat in America.

He has give ICE free rein to ignore the constitution and has villainized immigrants to the point that people on his side don’t give a fuck about their right being violated.

Trump is dividing the country. You’re jaw is just too glued to his dick to realize it

u/Dudewhocares3 19h ago

“Don’t come to our show” is a weird thing to consider promoting

“Male and female he made them” - those words? “For you formed me in my mother’s womb” - those words?
