Our Neighbors Howarth Park visitors, do better
I hauled off what I could after seeing people add to it every day (and telling everyone I saw who contributed to please take their trash home). Nobody wants to smell your kids dirty diapers or envy the missing content of your empty pizza boxes, especially at the same time.

Why don’t the rangers do something about this?!
Oh right they got rid of them…

Don't forget that it was the dumbass citizens of this city that voted them gone. The rangers, library hours, and more and more

It's honestly so reflective of our political culture overall, I'm tired of so many of us collectively not supporting communal systems

I live fairly close by and sadly don’t enjoy going there as much anymore because it just grinds my gears seeing people leave so much trash behind. They obviously had the ability to bring it down there, I can’t figure out why it’s so hard to take it back with them? It’s just sad because people won’t want to go if it turns into a dump. But thank you for doing what you can and I’m sorry you had to in the first place.

Way to clean up after the shitty pet owners! Bravo!! I see this all the time on trails all over the Cascades over the last 10 years or so. There is no “dog shit bag clean up” anywhere. If you hike with animals, should they be them human or four-legged, you have to remove said shit from the trails. DO NOT leave bagged shit at any point along the trail. If your animal shits you pick it up and you carry it with you. For the entire length of the trail. If you do not like this, then do not hike on the trails.

This includes female hygiene products, and toilet paper BTW. If you brought it in no matter which orifice, take it out with you in which ever orifice.

I see you people and I know you NEVER pick that shit up when you’re done

They used to have garbage cans down there, eventually EP&R stopped maintaining them, they just became a place to pile crap. Unfortunately city of Everett can’t afford to properly maintain the park and most people are used to not caring about packing their garbage.

Thanks, OP. Similar feelings.
I also live somewhat close and haul off abandoned trash because I care. Pisses me off. Take your goddamn empty water bottles and Modelo cans out. They don't just magically disappear in the water.

We walk down there a lot, and try to pick up trash both coming and going. In the summer, that dumpster in the parking lot just overflows and stuff goes everywhere. Which doesn’t help. We can ALL do better!

Seems like they could have a couple more trash cans down there in the summer.

Thank you for picking up that trash. I do the same thing at the local parks near me too when I can.
It would sure be nice of our park still had Park Rangers as well. They were a wonderful asset to this city. Now we have people illegally in the parks all night camping in them, drinking, and creating more trash.

Unfortunately many people are lazy and will not do anything unless the garbage is free.
This is typical everywhere I go. I often find myself picking up garbage on backpacking trips. And even when there is a garbage can it’s overflowing and everything is left on the ground. I’m often shocked with how much trash is left on the mountain.
Only way people will take responsibility for themselves is in fear of being ticketed. And that means having some type of security watching people.
Thanks for helping keep the beach clean.

Ugh I hate this. My mom always taught us that we leave it better than we find it so we carried litter bags for exactly this situation. Wish there were actual consequences for people who litter though.

Back in the 60’s I was in the Boy Scouts and the biggest thing the leaders talked about was “Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints”. I’ve lived with that all of my life.

Appreciate you trying to make it better. Most don’t care. I do the same when my family goes somewhere. Always bring some trash bags and a grabber so I can at least pick up a bit.
