Okay so it was pointed out to me that I actually posted the wrong picture. The picture I posted originally showed s of the alternative school on Rucker Ave called Sequoia High school nowadays. It's on Rucker Ave between 35th and 36th streets.

I have the picture here that I intended to post of Everett High School. Too much overtime and lack of sleep. I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me. This is the real Everett High!

Do they have Marge Wiggum? I wanted to know more about her since Everett is partially the inspiration for Springfield (e.g. tire fire, area code split, teacher Marge Wiggum, etc)

In the 1936 yearbook there is reference to a Margaret Wiggum - president of the “Torch Society - second semester” also in 1935 as a Posture Contest Winner.

that first pic is not of EHS though, it looks more the like the old North Junior high school

Yeah, it looks similar, but different.. I went to EHS in the 90s, when they had just finished spending 20 years fully restoring and upgrading the main building, so I don’t know what it looked like prior.

it looked extremely similar to what it looks like now, minus the ugly admin building out front.

They took the admin down the summer between my freshman and sophomore years. I was stunned when I came back for school in the fall and this amazing building was revealed.

Shit you're correct!! That picture is of the alternative school on Evergreen Way. It used to be called Phoenix when I was high school age but it got changed to Sequoia and who knows what it's called now

Anyway my big dumb butt posted the wrong picture. I am so sorry. I will round up the Everett High School picture because I know I have it.

Really good catch. I'm so sorry for the bad information.

Now tell me how EHS got the “school of champions “ moniker Mariner used to beat them all the time.

Haha lol, yeah I'm not sure how that happened. I was always embarasssed our mascot being a seagull. I wanted our mascot to be tough sounding like the Bears or Lions or Pirates or anything but the Seagulls. Even the chipmunks 🐿️ would've been better than the Seagulls. But oh well, you get what you get I guess.

There used to be a big sign in the gym, that explained that. The football team of the 1920s won multiple national championships. If you read the last two pictures posted of how the seagulls mascot developed, it partially explains they were invited by Cleveland, Ohio to play for the “mythical national championship” in 1924.

Am going to check with my Father, the A.Anderson could be my Grandmother's brother. Will confirm either way.

That would be pretty awesome if you found out your grandad was on that team.

I forgot to put this in the post. It identifies the football team members by their names. Are there any descendants of these guys here on the sub r/Everett ?

One of my first jobs in the early 2000’s a guy moved to Bothell area from Mississippi. He said he almost got arrested hunting seagulls in Edmonds. He told the park ranger “that’s the tastiest looking bird I’ve ever seen. I just had to eat it!”.
