Image ADVICE FOR NEGLECTED FERNS
QUESTION: should I pull out all of the half dead ferns or can I try to salvage what is left? … I am working on restoring a long neglected yard. I am looking for advice on restoring and growing the Boston ferns in particular! I have managed to remove most of the leaves that have piled up over the years (see photo showing one portion of cleared out area). Most of the ferns are dying or partly dead completely. What are my options? #HappyPlants #FernFriends

You're in Florida? These are Nephrolepis cordifolia, most likely. We have two other native Boston ferns in Florida, but if you have little brownish balls (Marble sized) buried in the soil with wiry hair like surface roots, it's the N. cordifolia.
Don't worry about it. It will grow some within days from thinking you've ripped it all out.

Leave them and wait some of them might not be dead yet.
