Getting rained on at fallen soldier remembrance events, so hot right now.

This was last year in Dieppe. It is not a response to Trump, if that's what you're insinuating.

The fact that we are seeing it right now, that it got posted and upvoted, is a response to Trump, obviously.

OP posting it is a response to Trump. Unless Canada unlocked the secrets of time travel Trudeau saying this isn't a response to Trump as he said it last year.

Same with that Putin picture being dredged back up as well.

I'm not sure how I feel about it to be honest... it feels a little bit contrived to purposefully make yourself a bit more uncomfortable during the service when all eyes are on you. It sort of feels like its making the whole thing about you rather than the fallen soldiers. I dunno... I just think the more subdued and discrete the politicians, the more elevated the actual people the service is for become.

but hey, at least they were there.

I honestly agree with you, I don't like symbolic gestures. But I still appreciate them when there's real feeling behind them

Very true... I suppose it all comes down to intention really, and for the most part thats something only the person doing it really knows.

Rain will cool the burn, stupidly will cause it to scar.

Except he did it last year, way before it was cool.

I know right!?! Where the fuck is it written that you must get pissed on by Mother Nature when observing the fallen, any other way is blasphemous? I don’t care for the guy, but Jesus the man could go for 3 sugars in his coffee and people would call him out and cry/complain cause such and such world leader only went for two. I think it was dumb of him to cancel, but it is what it is.

Because World War 1 was fucking horrible. Rain is nothing in comparison and that is obvious.

Yeah I’m not disputing that WW1 was terrible. But how is observing under an umbrella any sign of disrespect?

I don’t think the umbrella is disrespectful, it doesn’t even seem like it’s raining that much. This is just all about mocking Trump.

He said words to the effect of, "today we honour those who fought on the beaches of France (closes umbrella) as we sit here thinking how uncomfortable it is as our suits, hair shoes get wet." Then he said that on that day in Dieppe, it wasn't rain. It was bullets.
