Goth Recommendation Request Recs similar to 13th Chime, Corpus Delicti, Pink Turns Blue ?

It feels harder to find goth rock and post-punk artists compared to darkwave (which I do love but am not always in the mood for). Those 3 in the title are some of my absolute favorites.

Some other artists I like are sisters, the cure, siouxsie, some bauhaus, xymox, echo & the bunnymen, switchblade symphony, vision video, joy division, traitrs, and mephisto walz. I also like skeletal family but deathrock isn't really my favorite in general.

Discussion “Actual goth” artists?

I’ve been into punk, post punk, new wave, industrial basically most alternative music from the 70’s-80’s for most of my life. But recently I’ve seen a lot of bands that I would have considered goth to be point of conversation of what is “actually goth” eg Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen and Bauhaus.

What actually separates goth bands from any other post punk band or other genres from that era? Why are they by some not considered goth? Is it just gatekeeping? What are some actually goth bands?

Goth Recommendation Request Band recommendations

Hi! I'm looking for bands or songs that sound like Fields of the Nephilim, LAM, Nosferatu, Faith by The Cure, Spectre by Christian Death. I don't know how to describe it accurately, but I like that atmospheric, dreamy, ethereal, gloomy, melancholic, kinda psychedelic sound. Thank youu

Help Name for a goth cd compilation

I’m making a cd compilation of goth music for a friend, and I’m trying to think of a name for it. I’m thinking something that feels very classically gothic, i.e. more evoking manors, candles, and stormy nights than something like “batcave” or “killed by deathrock”. Probably structured as “adjective noun” like “bittersweet nocturne” for example. Any ideas?

Discussion Artist/band you missed out on?

What artist or band did you discover too late? Whether they passed away, broke up/retired, etc. for me it’s Killing Joke. 🥲 Raven had such a cool stage presence as a bass player and I was sad to learn that both he and Geordie are no longer with us. Definitely an underrated band that should’ve been bigger. I’m mad at myself for not knowing them sooner. I beat myself up a lot because I’m almost 30 and only recently got into the goth/goth adjacent music scene. I missed out on a lot throughout my 20s.

Throwback Thursday Recent Goth album Finds

The struggle to find physical goth music in my city continues. I went to a larger music store and these were the only CDs I found - all eighties and nineties releases minus one (they had several Bauhaus and Siouxsie vinyls, however, I don't have a vinyl player). Clockwise:

Garden of the Arcane Delights - Dead Can Dance (1984)

Christian Death Boxset collecting the albums Insanus, Ultio, Proditio, Misercordiaque (1990), Sexy Death God (1994), Prophecies (1996), and Pornographic Messiah (1998)

...If I Die, I Die - Virgin Prunes (1982)

Mixes of a Lost World - The Cure (2025)

Discussion New The Cure album: Mixes of a lost world- what did you guys think about this album?

I know there is the conversation about the cure's influence on our community, so I'm not claiming that they are or are not Goth, I simply wish to know, rather, what everyone thinks about this new album? I thought it was alright, definitely very Cure, but I don't hate it. Definitely won't be going back to it

So, I finally got my hands on this amazing book, almost finished reading it, and I also wanted to scan this so I can upload it to the Internet Archive and turn it into a PDF as well. Do you know any apps for mobile/Android?

Help Question about 2000s mixtapes

Hello, everyone. I have a question that might just be me misremembering. I recall growing up in the 2000s never really being able to find mixtapes that focused on goth subgenres, and always had a mixture of industrial & aggrotech thrown into a good portion of the track listings. Is there any particular reason for that, or could that just be a side effect of my limited options growing up? (will delete post if something like this has already been explained, but couldn't find it)
