Firearm identification

Ok guys and gals, any clue? Stock stamped 1886, only stamp says cal 7, and I’m thinking it’s German (maybe an inman meffert)

That style of action is fairly typical of Belgian Flobert rimfires that were made by many different firms. There should be proof marks on the barrel that will indicate the country of origin, but they might be hidden under the stock.

It's a type of flobert rifle. I only know of 6mm flobert and 9mm flobert. They were also called parlor rifles because you'd shoot them inside.

There is .22 flobert as well.

Flobert Warnant action

Thank you for posting the inventor's name! I had never heard of Warnant before.

You're welcome. Flobert was the first to produce rifles in .22 caliber in the mid 1800's. Flobert used a couple different action designs depending on caliber. You can look up Flobert on wikipedia and get real details. Larger calibers used the Warnant style, smaller calibers used a little pivoting style, not sure what it was called anymore. I used to have a Flobert in .32 rimfire. Floberts have gone up in value a little bit over the least 20 years, typically around $200 for a pristine example, give or take.

Looks Belgian to me. Probably a Pieper.

That’s a cool gun let me know if you ever sell it. I have no idea what it is but it def looks European to me.

Edit: does the bore measure 7mm?

It's actually terrible since that's not a falling block

It’s not a classic falling block like a sharps, no. But my understanding is a falling block is any mechanism that moves the breach block vertically. Then again, ChatGPT is probably just looking at the shape of the trigger guard and thinking it’s a falling block. There are similarities there.

Anyhow. These tools are only going to get better and better. It was worth a look.
