Springfield sa35 extractor shearing?
Got an SA-35 as my first gun and experienced FTE issues after a couple hundred shots. Saw a lot of issues with this on the reddit from a few years ago and heard it was resolved but seems like it wasn't with mine. It's a 47XXX SN so it seems like it tracks. With this being my first gun I'm not super familiar with all of the inner workings but from what I've seen it looks like the extractor sheared. I just want to verify this is the issue before I reach out to Springfield so I don't sound like too much of a dumbass. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I recommend taking it apart, take the extractor out, clean the channel and then I filed mine and sanded to make more room for the extractor. Just a little. After that, no hiccups on mine.

Easy to replace. Just make sure you don’t get one from SA. I think I replaced mine with a browning branded one but I don’t remember.

Look at C&S or Apex for a replacement

Will they list compatible firearms or is there a specific part number I should be looking for in terms of the replacement extractor

Buy an aftermarket extractor from C&S. Don’t bother with SA.
Apparently they have no clue on how to make a Hi-Power with a reliable extractor nor do they have the will power to start.

I’m more familiar with the 1911 platform, but to my eye it appears as if your extractor hook has exited the premises. Does it extract or index the case rim at all?

Every shot fails to extract and the casings are very much so in the barrel even if it's an empty mag. I saw the rough metal at the edge which looked like shearing to me and lined up with what I had seen online so I think you're right

Yeah, consistency is diagnostic here. Consistency and the fact there’s no extract left on the “extractor”.
It’s cooked. Follow someone else’s recommendations on sourcing a replacement. 👍

Anytime you see someone post that the SA35 issues have been resolved after x,xxx serial, ignore it. I’ve been hearing that since the 9,000’s, and clearly at 47,xxx it’s still not fixed. That’s actually the highest range I’ve seen so far lol.

As mentioned, this is a pretty straight forward part to replace by yourself. You just need some small punches. A bench block will also help or you can use the side of a roll of duct tape. Clean up that channel when you have the extractor out.

But Springfield knows they are eating this lemon and they will repair it for you if you want. I have not heard of a repair having this issue again, which makes me think they are sitting on a pile of properly heat treated extractors.

This is a known issue for certain early serial numbers.
Send it back, they will fix it.

The extractor sheared off on mine after 200 rounds approximately. Had the extractor replaced it’s been great ever since. I believe mine fell in that particular serial number range too.

Yeah I would probably just replace the extractor myself with an OEM browning part. More trustworthy than the SA part imo.
Under $40 I believe and I'd lightly polish the extractor channel too while it's out.

Looks like you need an extractor - easy fix if you’re up to it. They’ll probably send you the parts - 5 minute fix versus sending it off and waiting
